Position Title:  Electrical Coordinator

ONxpress Transportation Partners has been selected by Infrastructure Ontario and Metrolinx to lead the charge in modernizing rail service across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Areas with the On-Corridor Works project. You are someone who:

  • Has a solid understanding of building electrical engineering requirements, codes, and standards, including but not limited to the Ontario Building Code (OBC), Ontario Electrical Safety Code (OESC), Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), Canadian Standards Association (CSA), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE).
  • Possesses experience in basic electrical design and calculations for power distribution, control systems, communication networks, lighting, fire alarms, and security systems, particularly for transportation projects.
  • Is proficient in preparing AutoCAD drawings and creating Revit 3D models for electrical systems.
  • Is continuously learning about building electrical engineering requirements, with exposure to the Ontario Building Code (OBC), Electrical Safety Authority (ESA), and IEEE standards for building and site design.
  • Can work effectively both independently and as part of a team within the electrical discipline, under the direct supervision of engineers and project managers.
  • Is adaptable and willing to take on other duties as assigned or required.

You bring:

  • A bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or similar disciplines
  •  A professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with the Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) is an asset.
  • 3-5 years of experience in designing electrical systems for transportation, commercial, and industrial building projects. This includes but is not limited to power distribution, grounding, fire alarm systems, fire protection, lightning protection, arc flash studies, emergency power, and life safety systems.
  • Knowledge of various construction contract methods, including but not limited to Design/Bid/Build (DBB), Design/Build (DB), Public-Private Partnership (P3), Alternative Financing and Procurement (AFP) delivery, and Alliance-type projects. This expertise enables them to lead transportation projects from the pursuit stage through to construction.
  • Proficiency on MS Office suite. 
  • Good communication Skills.
  • Self-motivation with good organizational skills.
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure.
  • Adaptability to flexible work schedule when required to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work with others as a team.

This position is with ONxpress Civils (“CJV” aka the Design & Construction team); the project segment responsible for the modernization and modification of the key area network, including countless innovations in the way the regional rail infrastructure is built.
