Position Title: Environmental Inspector
Who We Are
Metrolinx’s GO Expansion program is delivering more GO service across the network, including the capacity to deliver two-way service every 15 minutes or better on core routes. Work is already underway on new track, station renovations and infrastructure upgrades on parts of the Lakeshore, Stouffville, Kitchener and Barrie lines. The investment will generate thousands of new jobs and economic opportunities across the region. The ONxpress Civil Joint Venture is comprised of Aecon Infrastructure Management Inc. and FCC Canada Ltd. This multidisciplinary team leads the delivery of civil and track works, leveraging global expertise to introduce innovative solutions across the GO Transit network.
What You'll Do
Under the direction of the Environmental Manager this position is responsible to ensure compliance of the Initial Works with the Environmental Management System and the Project Agreement.
• Conduct monitoring and inspections on all aspects of the construction works in accordance with an Environmental Management System. • Maintain a log of monitoring and inspection events, which shall include photographic
• Evidence to support the observations recorded during such monitoring and inspection events.
• Complete monitoring and inspection reports and provide to the Environmental Compliance Officer.
• Provide advice and recommendations for improving environmental protection and
• Correcting any inefficient practices and/or issues of non-compliance within 24 hours of noticing a potential issue.
What You’ll Bring
• Diploma or a bachelor or advanced degree in an environmental related discipline (ecology/biology/environmental science).
• Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated work experience in all aspects of environmental monitoring and mitigation during roadway construction or construction of transit infrastructure, specifically with respect to work in and around watercourses and in the application and correction of erosion and sedimentation control measures, reporting spills and the containment of effluent and dust during construction.
• Experience with projects in Ontario of a similar scope and complexity to the Project.
• Certification as a Canadian Certified Inspector of Sediment and Erosion Control (CANCISEC), or have proven proficiency in observing, inspecting, and reporting on the implementation of Erosion and Sediment Control Plans.
Expected compensation for this role is between $75,000-$85,000 annually. Base salaries are determined according to multiple factors including skills, experience and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into consideration. In addition to base salary ONxpress also offers a comprehensive medical and dental program, RRSP with company matching and the potential to participate in our discretionary, performance based bonus program.
