Position Title: Jr. Project Coordinator Co-op
Who We Are
Metrolinx’s GO Expansion program is delivering more GO service across the network, including the capacity to deliver two-way service every 15 minutes or better on core routes. Work is already underway on new track, station renovations and infrastructure upgrades on parts of the Lakeshore, Stouffville, Kitchener and Barrie lines. The investment will generate thousands of new jobs and economic opportunities across the region. The ONxpress Civil Joint Venture is comprised of Aecon Infrastructure Management Inc. and FCC Canada Ltd. This multidisciplinary team leads the delivery of civil and track works, leveraging global expertise to introduce innovative solutions across the GO Transit network.
What You’ll Do:
- Supports planning for Major Track Closures and other construction activities, including development of construction scheduling and staging plans
- Learns and implements safe systems of working when planning works
- Creates required submissions and documents for requesting rail corridor access
- Assists with project management, procurement, and risk management
- Coordinates with internal and external teams and specialists as needed
- Provides project analysis, data, and cost reports to management, including support for month-end reconciliations.
- Tracks and reports on productivity, costs, and project progress, ensuring timely delivery of materials and equipment.
- Performs quantity take-offs, coordinates with architects, engineers, vendors, and suppliers, and integrates plans and schedules.
- Manages administrative documentation, maintains files and correspondence on active and completed projects, and submits invoicing.
- Opportunity to go on-site to see construction works being executed during Major Track Closures
What You Bring:
- Currently enrolled in Civil Engineering, Engineering Technologist, or Construction Technology Diploma/Degree/Post-grad Certificate.
- Prior construction, project controls or railway experience, is an asset.
- Desire and willingness to learn and implement railway safety and operating practices and railway construction methodologies
- Proficiency in reading and understanding construction drawings and documents.
- Strong computer skills, including MS Excel, MS Word, MS Project, MS PowerPoint, AutoCAD, .
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Strong ability to work accurately under pressure and adapt to a flexible work schedule.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
Expected compensation for this role is between $20-$25 hourly based skill and experience level. Applicants must be enrolled in a relevant university or college program to be eligible for the opportunity. Only students eligible to complete an 8–12-month co-op term will be considered.
