Position Title:  MEP Superintendent

ONxpress Transportation Partners has been selected by Infrastructure Ontario and Metrolinx to lead the charge in modernizing rail service across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Areas with the On-Corridor Works project. You are someone who:

  • Ensures safety across all activities by developing safe work plans, conducting hazard assessments, performing FLRAs, and mentoring crew members.
  • Leads safety meetings and inspections to provide guidance to team members.
  • Reports on project progress, quality control, resource needs, and customer or employee relations to the Project Manager.
  • Enhances the quality, efficiency, and productivity of work crews.
  • Addresses productivity issues with M&E Subcontractors, monitor their performance, and collaborate to resolve challenges.
  • Adheres to project plans and budgets while ensuring that Subcontractors, Foremen, and crews meet production targets.
  • Helps Subcontractors interpret drawings, specifications, and work requirements to create prioritized work plans.
  • Understands work scope and sequencing, plan and prioritize tasks, redirect crews and equipment as needed, and minimize downtime on site.
  • Coordinates and prioritize access for various trades and Subcontractors to ensure timely project delivery.
  • Develops and maintain a strong team through instruction, training, coaching, and team-building activities.
  • Oversees the approval of daily production records and monitor work progress, considering different work phases and change orders.
  • Prepares daily site reports, conduct quality control inspections, and complete checklists.
  • Verifies that materials received by Subcontractors comply with approved shop drawings and project specifications.
  • Records and reports any violations or disciplinary actions and conducts HSE inspections and prepare reports.
  • Reviews Foreman records, tracks rental items, and ensures their return and proper documentation.

 

 

You bring:

  • Post-secondary education in mechanical or electrical engineering, or 5 years of experience as a journeyman in Mechanical or Electrical trades.
  • Minimum 3-5 years in a site leadership role.
  • Exceptional multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Valid Driver’s License required.
  • Willingness to work according to the project schedule, including overtime, weekends, and/or night shifts if needed.

This position is with ONxpress Civils (“CJV” aka the Design & Construction team); the project segment responsible for the modernization and modification of the key area network, including countless innovations in the way the regional rail infrastructure is built.
