Position Title:  Safety Trainer

ONxpress Transportation Partners has been selected by Infrastructure Ontario and Metrolinx to lead the charge in modernizing rail service across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Areas with the On-Corridor Works project. What’s the Opportunity?

ONxpress is looking for a Safety Trainer to facilitate different training sessions (virtually and in-person) across the project. The safety trainer ensures that safety training is delivered with the highest quality and engagement manner. 

 

You are someone who:
•    Promotes a culture of safety, quality, team participation, and motivation in all aspects of training.
•    Interfaces with construction and tooling staff to address training requirements and determine appropriate methods of delivery.
•    Supports resolution of document revisions with the trainers and series leads.
•    Assists in the development of training material including lesson plans, practical evaluations, and written exams.
•    Participates in series training review meetings to document training related lessons learned and identify potential subsequent training developments.
•    Identifies any gaps with QA, EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) and Human Performance training requirements to successfully educate skilled trades in the operation of the refurbishment toolset.
•    Collaboarates with operations and implementation leads to ensure training programs will meet project needs.
•    Uses available metrics and analysis to identify and drive a continuous improvement training strategy.
•    Supportsidentifying technical training requirements and creating material to successfully educate project team members to perform their assigned tasks safely, efficiently, and effectively.
•    Is open to supporting other insitiaves and activieis as required 

 

You Bring:
•    Post-secondary education in Health & Safety, Construction, or a related field.
•    A minimum five (5) + years of construction experience.
•    Health and Safety certifications and accreditations (e.g. WHMIS, Working at Heights, Train the Trainer programs, Joint Health and Safety Committee) 
•    A comprehensive understanding and knowledge of legislation including but not limited to the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Canadian Standards Association, the Canada Labour Code, and other applicable Health and Safety regulations
•    Strong interpersonal skills in communicating with a large team.
•    Excellent oral and written communication skills.

This position is with ONxpress Civils (“CJV” aka the Design & Construction team); the project segment responsible for the modernization and modification of the key area network, including countless innovations in the way the regional rail infrastructure is built.
