What is the Opportunity?
As part of an alliance agreement, Aecon Nuclear has been awarded a contract with Ontario Power Generation to support the construction of Canada’s first Small Modular Reactor on the SMR-X Project. Beginning in 2023 Aecon will support the validation phase, design, procurement, early site preparation and site mobilization scope for the Construction of the Unit 1 Small Modular Reactor at the Darlington site.
Reporting to the Construction Manager, the Metrology Lead will serve as the technical subject matter expert for all metrology, CAD & visual planning methods & requirements
What You’ll Do Here:
- Serves as the technical subject matter expert for all metrology, modeling, CAD, visual planning aides, etc
- Leads all aspects of the DNNP site metrology scope: equipment maintenance, calibration, qualification requirements and operation, work planning, field supervision, etc
- Prepares the overall project metrology plan (with input from project functions) from initial set-up of the Global Coordinate System, through execution of all work series and their specific metrology requirements
- Identifying potential opportunities for metrology to improve work scopes.
- Prepares and/or oversees the preparation of documentation associated with Metrology execution (CWPs, field data acquisition plans, metrology technical reports, etc)
- Operates specialized CAD software such as AutoCAD, Spatial Analyzer, Solidworks programs alongside the execution team to facilitate visual planning, simulations, work progression storyboards
What You Bring to the Team:
- Strong Inspection background with at least 10 years’ experience as a Metrologist or Surveyor.
- General Knowledge of QA Standards ISO 9001:2008,CSA N258.0-08,Z299.3,Z299.4.
- Must be able to multi-task when needed.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint etc.)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to tactfully communicate with team members, internal customers and suppliers.
- Must be able to read and interpret Engineering drawings.
- Proficient in CAD software operation / modeling
- Proficient in operation of metrology surveying & global coordination systems equipment
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment requiring multitasking, problem solving, analytical and project management skills. Able to work prioritize and work tight deadlines.
