PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Material Handling Lead will assist Aecon-Wachs’ Engineering department in developing the correct material handling procedures to aid in construction activities at the Savannah River Plutonium Production Facility. Numerous commodities (steel, pipe, duct, electrical) as well as equipment must be removed from the existing structure without damaging the existing structure. The Material Handling Lead will ensure the correct travel path of materials being removed is identified and ensure that overloading of the existing structure and constructions elevators does not occur.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
⦁ Identifies correct travel path(s) of material to be removed from existing structure to prevent overloading of floors and equipment
⦁ Ensures work packages developed for construction activities properly address material handling plans and procedures
⦁ Works with construction superintendents to ensure changes to material handling requirements are implemented correctly in construction work packages
⦁ Ensures material handing during construction executes as efficiently as possible to remove material without multiple work crews and subcontractors being delayed at location of removal
⦁ Provides subcontractor oversite to ensure equipment removal does not damage the existing structure
⦁ Works with Aecon-Wachs and Client Engineering department to develop specialized material removal plans due to item weight and complexity
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
⦁ Prior work experience at MOX preferred
⦁ Prior work experience at SRS preferred
⦁ Prior demolition experience preferred
⦁ Prior field engineering/construction coordinator experience required
⦁ Ability to perform engineering floor load calculations required
⦁ Maintain a professional demeaner in all aspects of the project as an Aecon-Wachs employee
⦁ Perform internal and external, verbal and written status reports
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
⦁ Must be able to hold and maintain a Security Clearance at US Nuclear facility
⦁ Must pass pre-employment drug/alcohol screening
