What is the Opportunity? 

As part of an alliance agreement, Aecon Nuclear has been awarded a contract with Ontario Power Generation to support the construction of Canada’s first Small Modular Reactor on the SMR-X Project. Beginning in 2023 Aecon will support the validation phase, design, procurement, early site preparation and site mobilization scope for the Construction of the Unit 1 Small Modular Reactor at the Darlington site.

 

Reporting to the EHS Manager, the EHS Coordinator will be responsible to manage and maintain our Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) information systems. The role involves ensuring data integrity, system updates, and user support. The ideal candidate will be responsible for turning data into information and information into insight.

 

What You'll Do Here:

  • Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics, and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality.
  • Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques, and provide ongoing reports.
  • Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets.
  • Provide technical support to EHS system users and troubleshoot issues.
  • Assist with the implementation of new EHS software solutions.
  • Generate and analyze EHS reports to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Write, edit, and proofread EHS content for various platforms including websites, newsletters, and training materials.
  • Research EHS topics to ensure accuracy and relevance of content.

 

What You Bring to the Table:

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, communications, or related field.
  • Experience with EHS management systems.
  • Familiarity with EHS regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proven experience as a content writer, with a focus on EHS topics.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Strong research and fact-checking abilities.
  • Ability to translate complex EHS information into user-friendly content.
  • Adaptable to flexible work schedule when required to meet deadlines.
