Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Superintendent is responsible to ensure that projects are completed on schedule in compliance with the contracts and the job cost estimates and all the work is completed safely to acceptable standards of quality and workmanship. The Superintendent is also responsible for the management of day-to-day operations of the field crews.
What You'll Do Here:
- Supervise and lead a team of aerial and underground telecommunication crews, including the foreperson toward project goals and objectives.
- Manage and maintain relationships with sub-contractors, customers, owners, and local communities.
- Support Project Manager on the day-to-day activities and provide field completion reports.
- Manage the overall team’s daily progression on assigned work.
- Read and assess project plans.
- Outside the box thinking for remote areas to get the job done in a safe and effective manner.
- Able to perform in a fast-paced environment with little supervision.
- Adapt to continuously changing work tasks and locations.
- Able to lift and work with materials weighing up to 25kg.
- Actively participate in the JHSC meeting as management representative.
- Directs and maintains discipline and morale of the project staff
- Reviews and provides approval of project cost reports and ensures projected job profits are accurate and current.
- Manage and maintain a diverse fleet with associated tooling requirements for each assigned project
- Other duties as assigned
What You Bring to the Team:
- Previous utility experience
- Previous experience with supervising or managing underground or aerial construction crews is a strong asset.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work well in a team and as a team lead.
- Self-motivated with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment.
- Manual dexterity, mechanically inclined.
- Comfortable with working in confined spaces
- Ability to work long hours in all weather conditions and environments.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work at heights.
- Valid G driver’s license with an AZ – DZ considered an asset.
- Comfortable with driving long distance.
