Reporting to the Sr. Manager, the Electrical Project Advisor will provide and assist the team with a diverse skill set that involves a split of work from the office and the field providing essential feedback, concerns and insight to the design engineering team.
What You'll Do Here:
- Conduct constructability reviews and work closely with the engineering team.
- Provide training to both the field and engineering team on construction practices.
- Carry out Engineering Investigations for system updates and upgrades.
- Arrange and carry out checks of joint use facilities within the scope of work.
- Make recommendations to supervisor or others on various technical aspects of the distribution system.
- Prepare and report job estimates including instruction order with activities, taking into consideration such variables as structures, spans, soil types, components, and work methods based on field observations and input from supervisors.
- Assist in negotiating property settlements related to the acquisition of easement rights, maintenance agreements related to tree cutting rights, leases and power installation modifications within the scope of distribution lines.
- Provide field data for engineering studies.
- Review field survey data and engineering designs
- Assist in the creation and review of bill of materials.
- Repetitive movement (data entry).
- Able to perform in a fast-paced environment.
- Prolonged sedentary positioning.
- Possible travel may be required.

What You Bring to the Team:
- Post-secondary education in Electrical/Civil Engineering or Architectural program.
- Requires knowledge of electrical distribution system theory including performance of distribution line and station operations, mathematics, and computer and essential software needs.
- Requires proficiency in English to prepare correspondence and technical reporting as well as to deal effectively with others while assisting with questions and inquiries.
- Good written and verbal communication skills (preparation and proofreading of documents and dealing with customers).
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines with poise and confidence.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize workload, handling various job responsibilities at once (arranging meetings, phone messages, correspondence, etc.).
- Professional interaction with all levels of staff within the organization from front line to leadership team.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Training in Safety and experience in the construction industry.
- Requires demonstrated problem solving skills with emphasis to thoroughness and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with utilizing pole analysis software, including (but not limited to): SPIDACalc, QuickPole, and PLS-CADD is considered an asset.
