What Is The Opportunity?
Aecon is seeking a Cost Control Lead to join the Urban Transportations Solutions group to support future dynamic, transit projects in Canada. What You'll Do Here:
- Cost Controls Systems & Tools
- Provide support to project controls, procurement, commercial and construction teams to ensure control systems are properly implemented and utilized on the project.
- Participate in developing, establishing and maintaining project cost / control systems.
- Assist with evaluating and documenting processes and procedures related to cost controls to be followed by project teams.
- Provide input on an ongoing basis for improvements/modifications to Aecon's project controls policy and guidelines.
- Progress & Cost Tracking
- Develop and implement processes, cadence and requirements for cost recording, progress claiming plans, forecasting and reporting.
- Responsible for setting-up and implementation of project cost systems (cost codes, job cost processing procedures, project rules of credit).
- Develop, or assist in the development of, quantity detailed quantity trackers and manpower utilization plans and actuals for discipline or specialty activities bases for the assumptions.
- Plans, coordinates, and directs/performs the preparation of specific bugets, codes of accounts and recommends appropriate modifications and revisions as project progresses.
- Identifies or defines fata sources and techniques for data acquisition and collects required data for a specific discipline or other specialty applications.
- Perform data analysis, performance monitoring, contrrol functions and reforecasts as well as problem identification, and makes recommendations for improvement.
- Responsible for required project status reports for internal management and for the customer, including the overall project Dashboard, project performance reports (Earned Value, SPI, CPI, etc).
- Perform, or coordinate the perforrmance of, pricing structure development and application to takeoffs, derived quantities, quantity assumption, and cost allowances within a discipline or other speciality.
- Ensure all the contract conditions (invoicing, reporting, change management, etc) are applied and fulfilled for project set-up, project tracking and reporting, and project closeout.
- Assist with contract management and payments.
- Scope & Change Management
- Support project change management, including subcontractor claims. change requests, claims and dispute resolution as well as the incorporation of approved and forecast changes in the project controls systems.
- Risk Management
- Support in risk mangement activities, actively identifying threads and opportunities, developing and implementing risk treatment strategies, monitoring, constrol and reporting.
- People Management
- Create and maintain a culture and environment that is open and respectful.
- Supervise, coach, develop and mentor cost control personnel.
- Act as a key partner to Project Managers, Operations teams and Senior Leadership.
- Communicate with exernal clients, partners, vendors and subcontractors as required.
What You'll Bring To The Team:
- 10 years of Cost Control experience in construction.
- Knowledge of financial reporting systems and controller account codes and an understanding of Controller instructions, which impact Project Controls (including Project Financial Status Reports and Earned Revenue Determination Data).
- Accreditation from PMI, AACEI or CIQA is an asset.
- College and/or University degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Strong knowledge of Project Management and Cost Control principles, "Earned Value".
- P6 experience is an asset.
- Ability to produce, read and manipulate schedules and scheduling curves/reports as asset.
- Experience with Hard Dollar/InEight and SAP ERP systems is an asset.
- Intermediate to expert proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Orgainzational skills to handle multiple tasks within a high-pressure worksite envionment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral).
- Abililty to work effectively with all levels of management and employees.
- Detail oriented.
- A problem solver with sound judgement who accepts ownership and accountability.
