What Is the Opportunity?
Aecon Civil East is looking for an experienced Project Controls Director to support upcoming major infrastructure projects. As a key member of our team, you will help drive the successful execution of high-profile civil construction initiatives by ensuring project compliance, accurate performance tracking, and proactive risk management. We are continuously seeking top talent to build a strong pipeline for our future projects.
What You'll Do Here:
- Ensure project compliance with Aecon’s Project Controls standards and contractual obligations.
- Establish and maintain integrated Project Controls systems, including cost and schedule baselines.
- Lead project performance review meetings and communicate status updates effectively.
- Manage a team of Project Controls professionals in planning, scheduling, cost control, change management, and risk management.
- Support Project Managers in tracking project health and implementing effective communication plans. Contribute to the continuous improvement of Aecon’s Project Controls policies and guidelines.
- Oversee project performance metrics (CPI, SPI, key commodity tracking) and recommend corrective actions as needed.
- Develop and maintain an Earned Value Management plan to measure performance and enhance forecasting accuracy.
- Implement project-specific Project Controls and Change Management plans in compliance with contract conditions.
- Support Commercial and Procurement teams with claims assessment, negotiations, and dispute resolutions.
- Provide commercial and technical expertise for proposal development and project control requirements.
- Establish strong relationships with clients and joint venture partners.
- Conduct performance reviews, provide feedback, and implement development plans as required.
- Oversee resource planning, utilization analysis, and maintain Project Controls staffing forecasts.
- Develop and implement a project-specific Risk Management Plan and facilitate risk review meetings.
- Conduct Quantitative Risk Analysis (QRA) and communicate findings to project leadership.
What You Bring To The Team:
- Undergraduate degree in Business, Engineering, or equivalent.
- 15+ years of experience in the construction industry.
- Strong expertise in planning, scheduling, financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, estimating, and cost control.
- In-depth knowledge of Earned Value Management principles.
- Ability to produce, read, and modify project schedules and reports.
- Proven leadership skills with experience in managing project controls teams.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented with a customer-focused mindset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, SAP, and project controls software such as Primavera, Hard Dollar, or Accubid.
