What is the Opportunity?

The Strategic Sourcing Director leads the development and implementation of strategies, transformation of cost structures, cost savings, enhancement of customer satisfaction, management of vendor performance, and oversight of contract execution across all categories within the Preferred Supplier Initiative. This role requires commercial strong commercial insight and the ability to acquire technical expertise to effectively oversee complex categories, as well as mentor and direct a team of strategic sourcing and category managers. Knowledge of the construction industry and financial principles is beneficial, as the impact of this role is evaluated based on EBITDA efficiencies  (Total Cost of Ownership).
 
What You'll Do:

• Responsible for the cost structure transformation across a given commodity’s cost vectors. 
• Development of category strategy roadmaps that are congruent with Aecon’s competitive strategy.
• Plans and implements the assignment of Sourcing Projects to qualified Strategic Sourcing Manager and Coordinators to ensure support of business projections and project needs, in collaboration with the business line management
• Ensure a seamless roll-out of category strategy initiatives across the organization that deliver results in-line with the category strategy.
• Analysis of existing and new industry trends within a given category.
• Develop and maintain supplier contracts and responsible for contract performance.
• Relationship management with vendors and internal stakeholders.
• Responsible for continuous improvement of existing category strategy programs.
• Support operational excellence across the organization related to a given category.

 
What You Bring To the Team:

• University degree in Engineering, Business or related field preferred.
• Minimum 7 years’ experience with Leading Strategic Sourcing and/or Category Management Functions.
• Knowledge and past experience with the construction industry is a definite asset.
• Proficiency in all phases of Strategic Sourcing cycle and/or Category Management.
• Project management and influence skills.
• Strong communication skills: ability to distill strategy into a clear, compelling and concise narrative.
• Ability to analyze complex data and derive well supported linear and non-linear premises.
• Highly conscientious and disciplined, with ability to manage and coordinate competing organizational needs.
• Integrative thinker and negotiator; ability to flex his/her style to suit situational contexts.
• Ability and willingness to learn technical aspects of categories to the degree required to manage them and to provide guidance to direct reports managing complex categories
• Passion for excellence; demonstrated high goal achievement orientation and a will to win.
• Ability to work in a highly collaborative team environment.
• Demonstrated, formal problem-solving skills.
• Strong computer literacy (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
