What Is the Opportunity?

As the Business Partner, Immigration & Mobility, you will collaborate with the I&M team and use your expertise and strategic thinking to provide trusted support to the Human Resources teams and operational business units. 

 

What You’ll Do Here:

  • Serve as a trusted advisor on U.S., Canadian, and international immigration and tax laws, supporting employee relocations and cross-border transitions.
  • Provide end-to-end mobility support, including visa/work permit research, LMIA and Canadian work permit processing, US Visa Processing, including Permanent Residency and Green Card support and relocation logistics.
  • Liaise with HR, payroll, tax, and operations to ensure smooth transitions for international assignees and their families.
  • Manage tax compliance processes, including secondment agreements, certificates of coverage, TEQ tracking, and coordination with accountants for tax filings.
  • Maintain and audit employee records, track work permit/passport expirations, and ensure compliance with government regulations.
  • Develop and maintain mobility documentation, including templates, checklists, policies, and a U.S. mobility playbook.
  • Conduct research and benchmarking on immigration legislation and best practices; contribute to strategic program development.
  • Track international travel and taxable benefits; maintain centralized data systems for reporting and analytics.
  • Coordinate relocation services such as housing, shipping, banking, school enrollment, and vehicle assignments.
  • Build and manage relationships with external vendors (e.g., realtors, movers, tax advisors, relocation providers, immigration lawyers).
  • Generate reports using SAP and support leadership with data-driven insights.
  • Maintain confidentiality and accuracy in handling sensitive employee information.
  • Participate in special projects and contribute to continuous improvement of global mobility programs. 

 

What You Bring to the Team:

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resource Management or related field 
  • 5+ years of experience in global mobility and immigration.
  • Experience with cross-border tax processes and managing the life cycle of both Canadian and US mobility programs.
  • Strong understanding of Canadian and US immigration laws and filing applications.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, and matrixed environment with high resiliency.
  • Superior problem-solving skills and ability to develop agile, effective solutions to complex issues.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong reporting and analytical skills.
  • Adept at driving continuous improvement initiatives
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and PowerPoint), SAP, and SuccessFactors.
  • Strategic thinker with a proactive mindset and a passion for continuous improvement.
  • CERC designation is an asset.
