Position Overview
Aecon Foundations is a leader in the Canadian Foundations industry. From shoring systems to foundation piling of all types; Aecon Foundations brings the Aecon advantage to all of our market sectors and acts as a strong partner from project initiation, design development, field testing and execution.
Under the direction of the Project Controls Manager, the Project Controls Coordinator will be responsible for project controls on various projects. The Project Controls Coordinator will support the Project Controls Manager as a key partner to the Project Managers, Project Directors, Vice President, and Operations Teams. This role can sit out of Calgary, Edmonton, or Etobicoke.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparation of project reports (monthly).
- Preparation and maintenance of the project baseline schedule and narrative.
- Review time sheets, purchase orders and subcontracts to ensure costs are tracked accurately.
- Development of the quantity tracking systems for input into the cost reports.
- Preparation of cost reports, project forecasts, and cost / revenue projections.
- Monitoring of project accounting systems (cost codes, job cost processing procedures, project rules of credit).
- Preparation and maintenance of project billings and invoice tracking.
- Leading weekly project cost reviews with individual project teams.
- Provide direct support to projects and assist with the development of project change management including pricing change orders, managing Time and Material extra work and interfacing with the owner as well as the preparation of subcontracts and major purchase orders.
- Act as a lead for intra-department financial management of operational assets.
- Other relevant duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Undergraduate degree in Engineering (P. Eng. preferred).
- New grad to 2 years construction industry experience.
- Experience in planning, scheduling, financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and estimating.
- Primavera P6 Scheduling experience is a strong asset.
- Experience using Hard Dollar Estimating or equivalent and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to proactively identify issues / risks and suggest corrective actions.
- Proven strong analytical skills.
- Ability to work effectively with all levels of management and employees.
- Willingness for continuous learning and advancement of technical knowledge.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead project controls update meetings and to clearly identify and articulate issues to project and management team.
- A problem solver with sound judgement who accepts ownership and accountability.
