Position Title:  Senior Planner

Position Overview
Under the general supervision of the Civil East Planning Manager/Designated Supervisory personnel, Responsible for schedule development, maintenance, monitoring, and recovery plan development activities for complex bid and execution project schedules. Supports project organizational and administrative activities.  Supervises the development and integration of individual schedules into the total project plan. Supervises schedule resource planning.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provides supervision and assistance to planners in the development and integration of individual schedules into the total project plan. and driving consistency across the Bid/project.
  • Performs and/or coordinates, collects, verifies, and integrates the work scope for all entities into the total project plan. Reviews the representation of project scope in schedules.
  • Performs productivity analysis of construction operations and verifies. Establishes productivity basis to be utilized in estimates, as developed in concurrence with Construction. Reviews labor estimates for reasonableness.
  • Work with the Bid team to produce proposal schedules aligned with the Bid Documents
  • Perform technical quality analysis on schedule
  • Coordinate monthly update reviews including narrative development and finalization
  • Manage schedule risk assessments.
  • Reviews and evaluates schedule durations for all disciplines’ activities relative to the support of project milestones. Supervises/directs the calculation of durations and other considerations affecting activity durations.
  • Prepares and analyzes comparisons of scope, quantities, and cost data between projects. Develops bid evaluation cost and schedule criteria and prepares bid evaluations. May participate in discussions with vendors.
  • Plans, organizes, and supervises schedule resource loading. Coordinates development of all bulk commodity installation curves. Integrates appropriate manpower requirements for each discipline/specialty relative to the overall project needs. Determines quantity, Cost and manpower levels in support of the project needs and schedule philosophy.
  • Coordinate and manage the management level reporting consolidated from each segment
  • Prepare, Maintain, Monitor, Coordinate and Communicate detailed project master schedules using Primavera P6 and MS Project.
  • Implements Sub-trades schedules into master schedule and monitor ongoing progress.
  • Report progress of schedules at project meetings, monthly forecasts and status report updates.
  • Provide ‘look-ahead’ schedules for Sub-trade and Construction site meetings.
  • Prepare and update project cash flow forecasts.
  • Support project team with necessary training when needed.


Required Knowledge and Experience

  • Minimum 8 years of planning / scheduling experience on multi-year projects with at least 3 years in a Sr. role
  • A degree in Engineering from a recognized institution.
  • Excellent knowledge of Earned Value principles.
  • Experience in a heavy infrastructure environment is required; Subways, Tunnels and LRT Projects experience is a bonus.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel).
  • High level proficiency with Primavera (P6), required. Knowledge of MS Project, Synchro and TILOS; an asset.
  • Results oriented individual with the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and timelines.
  • Commitment to working in a team environment.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills.
  • Work will be at head office or project site, as required!
  • Valid Driver License
  • Willingness to travel- Project related travel anticipated
