What Is the Opportunity?
Reporting to the Manager, Payroll, the Payroll Specialist will be responsible for supporting the Manager and process of SAP HCM & SAP Payroll and Business Objects Reporting, provide overall support to the payroll team across various functions, manage and lead projects and department initiatives, perform User Acceptance Testing, test SAP service pack and enhancement upgrades, and support internal business partners.
Please note this is a 4-month contract. You will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience at Aecon!
What You'll Do Here:
- Supports the overall Payroll team in day-to-day operations and tasks including Organizational Management, HCM – Master Data, Unions, Payroll Processing, Payroll Accounting and Payroll Reporting
- Responsible for testing SAP system updates (Service Pack and Enhancement updates) including year end & legislative updates
- Responsible for initiating change requests, testing enhancements, new system configuration, and sign off
- Supporting department in User Acceptance testing as required
- Attends user group sessions to stay abreast of new system developments and to provide end users with training, new tools and shortcuts.
- Escalation point to support HCM & Payroll Managers with trouble shooting & fixes related to HCM & Payroll issues
- Supports HCM & Payroll to develop process efficiencies and ongoing process improvements
- Manage and lead HCM & Payroll projects or initiatives as requested
What You'll Bring to the Team:
- Minimum of 5 years of Payroll experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience related to SAP HCM & Payroll & Reporting
- Strong SAP technical expertise, advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, Business Objects, advanced Excel required
- Ability to manage and lead projects
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills (written and verbal)
- Act with discretion and confidentiality
- Strong organizational skills, including balancing multiple responsibilities and effectively meet deadlines
- Proven ability to work independently as well as with a team
- Strong business acumen and understanding of organizational structures and functions
- Analytical thinking skills to systematically break down issues & determine root cause
