What Is The Opportunity 

Aecon is proactively seeking a Testing & Commissioning (T&C) Manager to join the Urban Transportations Solutions group to support future dynamic, transit projects in Canada. What You Will Do Here:

  • Plan, prepare and execute the Testing and Commissioning program. 

  • Support overall management of Testing and Commissioning activities. 

  • Support coordination/production of Testing and Commissioning plan and procedures. 

  • Support coordination of Testing and Commissioning activities and site access. 

  • Help build the Testing and Commissioning team. 

  • Support inspection and testing of rail transit system, including automated train control, telecommunications, SCADA, power distribution, and system integration. 

  • Support scheduling and planning of process for handover of assets from construction to Testing and Commissioning. 

  • Support the compliance, approval, and acceptance related processes. 

  • Ensure that all tests, including performance testing follow applicable Project Requirements and Standards. 

  • Produce Testing and Commissioning Status reports and gather and maintain Testing and Commissioning evidence/logs. 

  • Ensure the coverage of requirements all along the project, ensuring that testing (via various means) provides a full coverage of correct implementation of the requirements: functional and safety requirements. 

  • Liaison between various stakeholders. 

  • Liaise with project design groups, quality, project management and other project teams in the context of Testing and Commissioning. 

  • Review and approve the traceability matrix, in cooperation with the other project stakeholders.     

  • Assist in incorporating and overseeing site safety within all Testing and Commissioning activities. 

  • Develop technical performance measurement markers and improvement processes to contribute towards Continuous Improvement.

What You Will Bring to The Team:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in testing and commissioning of rail transit systems on projects within the rail industry. 

  • Hold a professional engineer license. 

  • Knowledge of industry and regulatory standards and criteria pertinent to rail testing and commissioning, maintenance, operations, and safety certification. 

  • Experience with large, complex rail projects and Joint Ventures with multiple interfaces preferred. 

  • Experience / familiar with the ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288 (“Systems and software engineering — System life cycle processes”). 

  • Familiar / experience with the verification and the validation tasks included within each life cycle phase, as per CENELEC 50126. 

  • Experience in developing subsystems and system-wide commissioning plans and test procedures for automated train control, telecommunications, SCADA, power distribution, and system integration. 

  • Experience in developing cutover and migration plans for system integration purposes. 

  • Experience collaborating with the requirements management team, and dealing with special category type of requirements, including “safety requirements”, “RAM requirements”, and “security requirements”. 

  • Experience / familiar with / understanding the safety related application conditions (SRACs, ref. CENELEC 50126). 

  • Experience with development of test certificates. 

  • Knowledge of construction, engineering, planning, scheduling, operations and maintenance, and the interrelationships. 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (including Excel, Word, and Outlook). 

  • Proficient with requirements management tools (DOORS Telelogic / “classic”, DOORS Next Generation). 

  • Demonstrated application of deploying problem-solving methodologies. 

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
