Position Title:  Accountant

 

Who We Are:

Scarborough Transit Connect (STC) is a joint venture between Aecon and FCC Canada Ltd. that was selected by Metrolinx to deliver the Scarborough Subway Extension – Stations, Rail and Systems (SSE-SRS) package. The Scarborough Subway Extension will bring the TTC’s Line 2 subway service nearly eight kilometers farther into Scarborough. It will extend from Kennedy Station to Sheppard Avenue and McCowan Road, providing quick and seamless transit for those heading into and out of the downtown core and those travelling within Scarborough. The extension will replace Line 3 (the Scarborough RT), helping to reduce travel times and improve access to jobs, schools, and other key destinations throughout the city.

 

As part of this project, we are currently looking for a Accountant to join our team.

What You Will Do:

  • Work closely with construction, cost control, procurement and subcontractor teams to process Purchase Order Good Receipts in SAP based on approved invoices, ensuring project costs are processed accurately and in a timely manner, with all supporting documentation properly attached in SAP.
  • Respond to vendor inquiries in a timely manner, maintain strong vendor relationships, and solve issues effectively.
  • Prepare and park journal entries in SAP to ensure proper GL accounts and network activity codes are used.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Accountant and Cost Controller to finalize station costs during month-end close.
  • Maintain organized working files for station cost data and perform cost analysis.
  • Proactively identify, address, and resolve issues throughout the process.
  • Assist in documenting processes and support continuous process improvements within the area of responsibility.
  • Support audits, including financial, internal control, client, and tax audits.
  • Provide backup support and coverage for team members during absences.
  • Perform ad hoc tasks and support initiatives as assigned by the manager.

Experience You Will Bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, or Accounting
  • 3+ years of experience, preferably in construction industry.
  • CPA or pursuing CPA designation is an asset.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Knowledge of Full Cycle Accounting.
  • Significant reconciliation experience.
  • Highly analytical and detail oriented.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively collaborate within a highly matrixed organization.
  • Self-starter with an ability to identify issues and resolve problems independently.
  • Experience working within highly diverse, intercultural environments.
  • Proficiency in verbal and written English.
  • Be a champion of inclusion and diversity.

Compensation: $70,000 - $90,000 annually. The listed salary range reflects potential base pay and considers factors such as experience, education, and training. Each candidate is evaluated individually and offers toward the higher end may be extended to those with exceptional qualifications.
