Scarborough, ON, CA
Position Title: Architectural Coordinator
Who We Are:
STC is a joint venture between Aecon and FCC Canada Ltd. that was selected by Metrolinx to deliver the Scarborough Subway Extension – Stations, Rail and Systems (SSE-SRS) package. The Scarborough Subway Extension will bring the TTC’s Line 2 subway service nearly eight kilometers farther into Scarborough. It will extend from Kennedy Station to Sheppard Avenue and McCowan Road, providing quick and seamless transit for those heading into and out of the downtown core and those travelling within Scarborough. The extension will replace Line 3 (the Scarborough RT), helping to reduce travel times and improve access to jobs, schools, and other key destinations throughout the city.
As part of this project, we are currently looking for a Architectural Coordinator to join our team.
What You Will Do:
- Review preliminary concepts and lead the transition from schematic design to detailed development, ensuring that the architectural vision particularly interior and exterior finishes and intricate detailing is preserved through construction.
- Produce drawings and specifications using AutoCAD/Revit that prioritize interior junctions, material transitions, and Client standards while ensuring strict adherence to building codes and budget.
- Act as the technical liaison for the Client, providing clear updates on project progress, managing aesthetic and structural risks, and explaining architectural methodologies to ensure stakeholder alignment.
- Collaborate with the design team to conduct deep dive reviews of drawings; provide expert input on interior and exterior constructability, resolve complex site conditions, and proactively address quality or compliance gaps before they impact the finish.
- Partner with specialized trades to define precise scopes of work, develop integrated schedules, and conduct rigorous on-site inspections to ensure that craftsmanship meets the high-performance standards required for interior and exterior architectural details.
- Navigate the approvals process with stakeholders and authorities, securing all necessary permits and agreements while managing the flow of supplemental information to keep the project moving.
- Maintain meticulous tracking of quantities, inventory, and cost reports, ensuring that materials finishes are managed to exact project specifications.
- Interpret and enforce contract documents with a focus on technical accuracy; manage the RFI process to resolve discrepancies between architectural intent and site realities quickly and effectively.
- Monitor project milestones and budgets with a "detail-first" mindset, implementing corrective actions to mitigate deviations and ensure the project is delivered on time without compromising the design's integrity.
Experience You Will Bring:
- College degree in architecture or a related field.
- 3-5 years of construction experience; multi-disciplinary, large-scale architectural projects would be an asset.
- Substantial knowledge of OBC and OHSA
- Capable of reading and understanding construction drawings and documents.
- Sound computer skills – MS Excel / Lotus, MS Word, MS Project, AutoCAD/Revit.
