Position Title: Systems Quality Coordinator
Who We Are:
Scarborough Transit Connect (STC) is a joint venture between Aecon and FCC Canada Ltd. that was selected by Metrolinx to deliver the Scarborough Subway Extension – Stations, Rail and Systems (SSE-SRS) package. The Scarborough Subway Extension will bring the TTC’s Line 2 subway service nearly eight kilometers farther into Scarborough. It will extend from Kennedy Station to Sheppard Avenue and McCowan Road, providing quick and seamless transit for those heading into and out of the downtown core and those travelling within Scarborough. The extension will replace Line 3 (the Scarborough RT), helping to reduce travel times and improve access to jobs, schools, and other key destinations throughout the city.
As part of this project, we are currently looking for a Systems Quality Coordinator to join our team.
What You Will Do:
- Coordinate systems QA/QC activities in alignment with the Project Agreement and Quality Management System (QMS).
- Support QMS implementation and continuous improvement initiatives across systems-related project activities.
- Develop, review, and implement Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), inspection checklists, and quality procedures.
- Coordinate and verify inspections, testing, integration, and commissioning activities for systems installations.
- Ensure systems installations comply with drawings, specifications, contract requirements, codes, and applicable standards.
- Monitor site activities to confirm adherence to approved designs, installation requirements, and systems integration specifications.
- Track inspection, testing, and commissioning requirements, ensuring accurate and traceable quality records are maintained.
- Verify that all inspection, testing, and measuring equipment is calibrated and fit for purpose.
- Manage non-conformances (NCRs), including documentation, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and closure verification.
- Control and monitor non-conforming materials, equipment, and installations through resolution.
- Collaborate with project teams, subcontractors, consultants, and stakeholders to resolve quality issues and maintain compliance.
- Support systems verification and validation activities to ensure requirements are met throughout installation, testing, and commissioning phases.
- Conduct quality audits and ensure compliance with ITP hold points, witness points, and inspection requirements.
- Assist with the review and compilation of turnover packages, commissioning records, test reports, and closeout documentation.
- Maintain quality documentation and support reporting, training, safety alignment, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Participate in interface coordination activities between design, construction, testing, commissioning, and operations teams.
- Support requirements traceability activities, ensuring system requirements are linked to design, installation, testing, commissioning, and final acceptance documentation.
- Support quality risk assessments and mitigation planning for systems installation, integration, testing and commissioning activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience You Will Bring:
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
- 3–5 years of quality experience in the construction, infrastructure, transportation, rail, or systems integration industry.
- Familiarity with rail transit standards, Metrolinx requirements, TTC standards, CSA, NFPA, and other applicable industry specifications.
- Strong understanding of quality assurance and quality control principles related to integrated systems installations, testing, and commissioning.
- Knowledge of systems disciplines such as communications, electrical, mechanical, signaling, SCADA, traction power, fire/life safety, or related infrastructure systems and interfaces between associated teams.
- Working knowledge of applicable codes, standards, specifications, and project requirements.
- Understanding of Quality Management Systems (QMS) and ISO 9001:2015 principles.
- Experience with inspection planning, ITP development, audits, and NCR management.
- Knowledge of systems integration, verification and validation processes, testing, and commissioning activities.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, test procedures, interface documents, and technical documentation and identify potential quality issues.
- Experience coordinating with contractors, subcontractors, consultants, suppliers, and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Proficiency with MS Office and document management platforms (e.g., Aconex, SharePoint, Autodesk Construction Cloud, BIM 360, Procore, etc.).
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, time management, and field coordination skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must possess a valid driver's licence and access to a vehicle.
- ISO 9001:2015 Internal Auditor certification is considered an asset.
