What is the Opportunity?
Reporting to the Director, Quality, the Senior Quality Assurance Manager is matrixed to the Director of Projects at site and is responsible for implementation of the project and/or site quality program/plan and site or project specific procedures for projects executed at site. The Quality Assurance Manager is also the primary interface with customer’s quality management team on all quality matters at the site. Project Quality Managers and Quality Control Managers will report to this position and matrixed to Project Managers on projects
Citizenship Requirement:
This position requires access to nuclear facilities and information governed by U.S. federal regulations. As a result, applicants must be U.S. citizens to meet eligibility and security clearance requirements.
What You'll Do Here:
- Directs and Coordinates Project Quality Managers on quality activities across multiple projects and/or site, communicating with engineering, project management, procurement and fabrication/construction, and other project personnel to ensure QA goals and objectives are met.
- Develops/Approves project/Site Quality Plan to cover all customer requirements to a level of detail necessary to assure integration within the Quality Assurance Program.
- Prepares project/site quality-related procedures to meet Code, jurisdictional, customer and internal requirements.
- Ensure implementation of Aecon’s NQA-1 program is consistently implemented among all active projects at a specific site
- Ensure projects are adequately staffed with qualified QA/QC personnel to meet their specific objectives
- Trains quality personnel assigned to the projects and ensures training and qualification records are maintained for all QA/QC professionals across multiple projects at a specific site location.
- Liaise with customers, regulatory authorities, subcontractors and/or internal departments on matters related to quality.
- Represents the project/site during quality audits conducted by the customer, regulatory agencies and internal audits.
- Identifies quality problems, initiates non-conformance reports or corrective action requests and verifies implementation of dispositions.
- Provides work assignments to project/site quality personnel and prepares reports on the effectiveness of the project quality assurance program.
- Assists in ensuring satisfactory performance regarding the Aecon Nuclear Objectives.
- Ensure quality activities regarding fabrication and installation are planned and controlled.
- Supervision of all Project Quality Managers and Quality Control Managers assigned to the project and/or site.
- Maintain departmental costs within budget.
- External stakeholder interface will involve: meeting with customers, suppliers, jurisdictional authorities, unionized supervisors and employees or various disciplines. Interface with Senior Management, Project and Shop Management.
- Prepare and submit formal responses to customer quality concerns
What You Bring:
- A graduate of a four-year engineering program from a recognized university or an equivalent combination of Education, technical training and experience.
- Minimum 15 years experience in quality assurance related to the Nuclear Industry on Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Fabrication projects.
- 5 Years demonstrated experience managing Quality Assurance and Quality Control staff
- Management/Leadership experience and training.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Experienced in project management & execution fundamentals to support integrated project
- Computer literate in MS Office, Access, Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.
- Excellent understanding of the following codes and standards:
- 10 CFR50 Appendix B and 10CFR Part 21
- AWS, AISC, ACI
- ASME NQA-1
- 10 CFR 830
- Previous working experience with 10CFR50 Appendix B and 10CFR Part 21 would be an asset.
- ASME NQA-1 Nuclear Lead Auditor Certification would be an asset.
- Physical demands include:
