We are seeking a motivated and experienced Labor Relations Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will provide informed guidance on collective agreements, support effective labor‑management relationships, and contribute to a collaborative work environment across the industry. Reporting to the Labor Relations Manager, you will work closely with Labor Relations professionals and operational leaders. Responsibilities include facilitating meetings with unions, owners, and contractors; conducting research on industry agreements and labor board decisions; and supporting bargaining activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate, timely interpretation and guidance on collective agreements for association members.
- Promote early dispute‑resolution strategies to reduce conflict and maintain positive labor‑management relations.
- Support grievance and arbitration processes.
- Participate in collective bargaining and implementation of new agreements and wage schedules.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with Building Trade Unions and representatives.
- Support members throughout the markup process.
- Stay current on construction industry trends and best practices.
- Deliver training and information sessions on labor relations topics.
- Participate in committees and stakeholder groups.
- Research and compare industry collective agreements and relevant external information for bargaining preparation.
- Participate in multi‑union discussions to address job‑site issues.
- Assist with report creation and database maintenance.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Educational background in Human Resources, Labor Relations, or Industrial Relations.
- Experience working in labor relations within nuclear or DOE environments.
- Knowledge of the construction sector and building trade unions (asset).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with diverse industry stakeholders.
- Experience in collective bargaining and contract implementation (asset).
- High level of motivation, professionalism, and willingness to take on challenges.
- Ability to generate and analyze financial information.
- Valid driver’s license with the ability to travel frequently.
- Ability to pass DOE security background screening, including alcohol and drug testing.
