What is the Opportunity?
Aecon is currently seeking a CAD Drafter/Calculator to join the Aecon Geomatics Team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing precise layout information for all aspects of construction projects, ensuring adherence to design criteria and thorough documentation. Job sites can be located in various areas such as, but not limited to; Central Ontario, GTA or Barrie.
What You’ll Do Here:
- Provide survey calculations and layout data to field staff for construction activities
- Prepare 3D models for use in GPS and Machine Control applications
- Prepare engineering and survey plans
- Maintain accurate survey records, documentation and submittals
- Provide layout information at various stages of construction
- Calculate volumes using various software and methods
- Communicate clearly and professionally with clients and project stakeholders.
- Create and maintain as-built drawings based on field survey data and construction updates
- Provide back-up support for other surveying staff
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor
- Perform additional responsibilities depending on the type of project (e.g., grading, structures, paving or rehab)
What You Bring to the Team:
- Post-secondary education in Geomatics, Land Surveying, Civil Engineering Technology, or related field
- Strong understanding of survey practices, standards, and construction layout
- 3-5 years of experience in CAD drafting/calculator role, preferably in bridge or transportation infrastructure
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Microsoft Office
- Experience with MicroStation and Inroads software
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, and strong organizational abilities
- Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, design plans, and CAD files
