The Quality Control Coordinator will report directly to the Quality Manager and will be responsible for performing in-process and final inspections to ensure construction activities meet technical and quality requirements. In this role, you will provide quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) activities across the quality department to ensure compliance and monitoring of all quality and construction processes, procedures, activities, and project deliverables are in accordance with the DBA and ISO 9001:2015.

 

The Arctic Over the Horizon Radar Project is a major federal initiative led by Canada’s Department of National Defence, playing a critical role in strengthening national and continental defence. The project includes significant on-site and off-site material movement activities, extensive earthworks, deep and shallow foundation construction, structural concrete works, and the delivery of multiple buildings and supporting infrastructure.

 

As part of this program, Aecon’s Civil team is advancing Canada’s infrastructure through a strategic partnership with Pomerleau and Stantec. Delivered through a collaborative Integrated Project Delivery model, this project team is contributing to the design and construction of innovative infrastructure that will support one of the most advanced radar systems in North America.

What You'll Do Here:

  • Ensure understanding of quality issues, including risks and opportunities, and effective implementation of the quality plan and updates.
  • Perform quality inspections and testing activities in accordance with the Inspection and Test Plan.
  • Complete all associated records to document the status and results of performed inspections.
  • Understand and interpret technical drawings for civil works.
  • Verify that material meets Purchase Order, Code, and Standards requirements.
  • Initiate non-conformance reports when required and follow up on their resolution.
  • Identify and segregate nonconforming items.
  • Collaborate in the development and maintenance of project-specific procedures and work instructions.
  • Collaborate with management for interface on quality activities with internal or external organizations (customers, suppliers, subcontractors, and others).
  • Help organize internal and external audits.
  • Verify that calibrated equipment is used during the performance of inspection activities.
  • Support with the preparation of History Files or History Dockets.
  • Promote safety awareness, including adhering to safety rules and requirements.
  • Other activities as required by Management.

 

What You Bring to the Team:

  • Civil Engineering Technology Diploma or equivalent. A combination of education and industry experience will also be considered.
  • 3 - 5 years’ experience in heavy civil and/or infrastructure construction.
  • Experience working on major projects is considered an asset.
  • Previous experience with quality control processes including documentation, IDP, handover, and sign-offs.
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001.
  • Previous experience with inspection and testing of concrete.
  • Working knowledge of the CSA A23.1, CSA A23.2, CSA N291, and CSA N287 standards and other applicable building regulations.
  • Working knowledge of the CSA W47.1 and CSA W59 standards.
  • ACI/CCIL certification (preferred).
  • CSA W178 Level 1 or 2 Visual Welding Inspection certification (preferred).
  • Internal Auditor certification (ISO 9001 or equivalent) or ASQ certification (CQA) is considered an asset but is not mandatory.
  • Self-directed, motivated team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with MS Office.
  • Understanding of design and construction requirements.
  • Strong coordination and organizational skills, with strict emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all internal organization departments, Alliance partners, subcontractors, and regulatory authorities.

The expected pay range for this role is $65,000 - $85,000 per year.

 

Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions. Other considerations may include certifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role.
