SA Energy Group is a General Partnership between Robert B. Somerville and Aecon Utilities, a division of Aecon Construction Group. SA Energy Group provides mainline pipeline construction services to the Canadian Oil and Gas industry.  We have a strong project backlog and our successes are well documented having constructed over 1000 km of large diameter pipeline over the past 8 years.

 

Purpose of the Position
Under the supervision of the Engineering Manager, the Project Coordinator will be responsible for the implementation of technical requirements and field coordination for a designated project. 

 

Status of the Position
This is a temporary full-time position.  The work schedule will be 6 days on (Monday – Saturday) and 1 day off (Sunday), 12 hours per day.  The employment term shall be dependent on the duration of the current project and future project workload. 

 

Location
The position will be based out of SA Energy Group’s Project Offices in camp, located northeast of Prince George, BC.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Carries out and supports construction using the engineering design requirements, project schedule, manpower and procurement requirements.
  • Supports the implementation of the engineering and construction program, using the defined project plan, activities, milestones, and manpower requirements.
  • Identifies and tracks project manpower and equipment requirements against the project plan and coordinates manpower with appropriate trades and subcontractors.
  • Coordinates preparation and delivery of project deliverables, design documents, as built drawings, turnover documents, etc.
  • Reviews project design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements and related specifications.
  • Coordinates activities relating to technical developments, scheduling, and resolving engineering design problems.
  • Provides status and progress reports to project team and management.
  • Forecasts and tracks change orders and scope changes.
  • Reviews purchase specifications and subcontract documents.
  • Supports drafting of construction site plans and grade planning.
  • Coordinates material management activities including validation of material specifications, evaluation of purchase requisitions, material tracking and ensuring traceability of materials when installed in the field.
  • Active involvement in quality assurance with regards to understanding and implementing policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates and supports field engineering team by cataloging survey files and field documents.
  • Provides estimating and project management back-up as required.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by their supervisor/manager.

 

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • 1-3 years of construction experience, pipeline experience or project management exposure preferred.
  • Field experience on projects ranging in value from $50 million to $300 million plus is preferred.
  • Relevant degree or diploma in Engineering is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • In depth experience and knowledge of pipeline specifications, code requirements and best practices.
  • Ability to problem solve by developing solutions in a time efficient manner.
  • Ability to work effectively as team member and team leader.
  • Proven ability to build relationships and drive results from internal and external stakeholders.
  • AutoCAD 2D and Civil 3D experience is preferred.
  • Pipeline construction experience is preferred.
