What is the Opportunity? 

As part of an alliance agreement, Aecon has been awarded a contract in an Aecon-led partnership with Kiewit Nuclear Canada by Ontario Power Generation (OPG) for the execution phase on the Darlington New Nuclear Project (DNNP) in Clarington, Ontario. Beginning in 2025 Aecon will support the Construction of the Unit 1 Small Modular Reactor at the Darlington site.

 

The Logistics Superintendent is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing all deliveries, laydown areas, and material handling activities in support of Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) operations. This role ensures that equipment, consumables, and supplies are delivered safely on time, and in compliance with project quality standards. The Logistics Superintendent manages a logistics crew and works closely with TBM operations, surface works, safety, and quality teams to maintain efficient, safe, and orderly support of tunneling activities.

 

What You'll Do Here:

  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate daily deliveries of TBM components, supplies, and materials.
  • Supervise logistics crew, including riggers, spotters, forklift operators, and laborers.
  • Maintain accurate delivery records, inventory, and materials tracking systems.
  • Oversee laydown yard, storage, and staging areas to ensure safety, order, and accessibility.
  • Coordinate with vendors, trucking companies, and suppliers to resolve delivery issues.
  • Ensure compliance with project safety protocols (lifting operations, and “Fatal 8”/critical risk controls).
  • Support TBM shift superintendents by ensuring materials are staged and available for continuous operations.
  • Escalate delivery, safety, or logistics conflicts promptly to the Construction Manager.
  • Contribute to daily progress meetings and provide updates on logistics status.

 

What You Bring to the Team:

  • Completion of a High School Diploma is required.
  • Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Civil Engineering Technology, or Logistics is strongly preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 - 7 years of progressive experience in construction logistics, heavy civil, tunneling, or industrial projects.
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience leading crews within a construction environment.
  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction such as technology, equipment, methods, trade agreements and jurisdiction, engineering, cost control, scheduling and safety requirements
  • Excellent communication, organizational and supervisory skills are essential.
  • Able to perform in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable walking and standing for long periods of time and lifting.
