PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The Methods Engineer will be a member of Aecon Nuclear Project Delivery Team in the development of new nuclear projects. Reporting to the Sr. Project Director the Methods Engineer is responsible for supporting engineering project management and construction of major projects, driving a consistent and systematic project execution.

 

FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide engineering definition to drafting to develop layouts, models, drawings and procedures
  • Design, procurement, scheduling, production, transporting, installation, testing and commissioning of complex equipment.
  • Design and stamp drawings for construction purposes
  • Ensure construction experience and feedback is incorporated into design reviews, design meetings, and communicated to the appropriate engineering design personnel
  • Communicate technical requirements to internal and external customers through documentation, and customer meetings
  • Provide technical field assistance for all forms of field service, start-up and commissioning of equipment
  • Identify, implement, and demonstrate appropriate numerical methods to ensure reliable and efficient convergence of numerical models across a variety of business needs
  • Provide support to engineering teams in the area of optimization, computational methods and system analysis tools
  • Ensures project is constructed in accordance with design, budget and schedule and company/project policies.
  • May provide mentoring and coaching to other technical employees.
  • Provides interpretation of plans, detail sheets, and specifications for contractors or craft supervision.
  • Help drive the company environmental health and safety programs at the project level, driving a safety-oriented approach to work

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & TRAINING NEEDS

  • Be a champion of inclusion and diversity. 
  • Minimum 5 years related experience; nuclear construction experience an asset.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng).Civil or Mechanical preferred.
  • Certified by the Project Management Institute (PMP) or equivalent an asset.
  • Engineering graduate from an accredited institution in a relevant discipline or equivalent appropriate professional qualification,
  • Experience of working in project teams during multiple project phases.
  • Proficient in software related to construction industry as required (e.g. Primavera Scheduling software, AutoCAD, SAP etc.)
  •  Excellent Computer skills including proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • EPC and/or EPCM project knowledge and experience.
  • Due to the nature of work conducted by Aecon, mandated nuclear export controls requirements must be met for employment.
