Quality Control Inspector - Electrical

Position Overview

Aecon Nuclear provides a full spectrum of Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) services, in addition to maintenance and manufacturing services tailored to meet the demanding requirements of the nuclear power industry.

 

The joint venture between SNC-Lavalin and Aecon has been awarded a contract with Ontario Power Generation (OPG) to carry out the Darlington Retube and Feeder Replacement (RFR) project. The project involves refurbishment of all four reactors at the Darlington Generating Station and consists of two phases – a Definition Phase and an Execution Phase. The Definition Phase includes the construction of a full-scale reactor mock-up to simulate key elements of the refurbishment work, and the development, procurement and testing of specialized tooling required for the project. The Execution Phase involves refurbishment of the reactor cores using the tools and methods that were developed and tested during the Definition Phase.

 

Electrical QC Inspector is responsible for the performance of all quality functions and duties as related
to the installation of major and minor electrical materials and equipment within their specific project. The position reports to the Quality Control Supervisor/Manager.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform inspection on high and low voltage electrical materials, components, and equipment in accordance with the Construction Inspection and Test Plan (CITP) and/or customer specifications. Such inspections shall include but not be limited to:
    • Dimensional inspections
    • Review of Material Test Reports
    • Receiving inspection
    • Visual inspections
    • Witness electrical tests such as Megger test, Conductivity test, etc
    • Verify torqueing operations have been performed in accordance with CITP requirements.
    • Verify connections and cables have been terminated in accordance with CITP requirements.
  • Generate and maintain Electrical Construction Inspection and Test Plans using Electrical Codes and customer specifications.
  • Perform In-Process Inspections and Final Inspections in accordance with CITP requirements
  • Complete all associated documentation; Quality Control reports, CITP sign-offsf CITPs, create as-built drawings, etc.
  • Verify calibration status of  measuring and test equipment prior to use.

 

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Graduate secondary school education in QA/QC or a related discipline at the University or College level or a minimum of 1 year work experience in an Electrical QC role.
  • Licensed Journeyman Electrician
  • Good communication and organizational skills
  • Computer literate in MS Office software
