What is the Opportunity?

As part of an alliance agreement, Aecon has been awarded a contract in an Aecon-led partnership with Kiewit Nuclear Canada by Ontario Power Generation (OPG) for the execution phase on the Darlington New Nuclear Project (DNNP) in Clarington, Ontario. Beginning in 2025 Aecon will support the Construction of the Unit 1 Small Modular Reactor at the Darlington site.

This position will report directly to the Plant Manager.

What You’ll Do Here:

  • Coordinate troubleshooting, repair & installation of low and high voltage control systems for TBM/STP/ grout plant and additional tunneling excavation support equipment.
  • Assist in maintaining TBM/STP/ grout plant and additional tunneling excavation support equipment documentation (preventive maintenance and repairs).
  • Coordinate troubleshooting and identification of operational problems with PLC and related TBM/STP/ grout plant and additional tunneling excavation support equipment and components.
  • Assist with TBM/STP/grout plant and additional tunneling excavation support start-ups and operational checkouts on system including coordination of wiring, calibration, grounding, and power testing.
  • Assist in diagnostics of cause of electrical or mechanical malfunction or failure of equipment.
  • Ensure components and support systems comply with all standards and regulations.
  • Assist in repairing & replacing defective components.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot tunnel and CCW site communication and interfaces with other systems

What You Bring to the Table:

  • Minimum 8 years’ relevant working experience in the tunnelling industry
  • Experience with Slurry Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) (6m diameter) and/or Slurry Treatment Plant (STP) (min 1,200 m3/h)
  • Certificate/Diploma/Degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred.
  • Self-directed, motivated team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Strong coordination and organization skills, with strict emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbal and written, with all internal organization departments, alliance partners, subcontractors, and regulatory authorities.
