Aecon currently has a temporary 14-month contract for a Financial Analyst position. The Financial Analyst will report to the Manager, Financial Reporting. The successful candidate will conduct detailed monthly/quarterly forecasts, external and internal audits, as well as the following:
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the timely financial close of the Company at each period-end
- Assist with the development of the quarterly forecasts in concert with the respective department business partners
- Investigate / analyze Corporate SG&A variances from budget/forecast on a monthly/quarterly basis – working closely with business partners
- Enhance the budgeting/forecasting and financial processes and support process improvement initiatives to achieve financial goals and improve efficiency and profitability
- Assist in the external and internal audit; prepare schedules, analysis and supporting documents as requested by the auditors
- Perform monthly balance sheet account reconciliations
- Assist Supply Chain Management with inquires or issues pertaining to Purchase Order, Receiving and Accounts Payable in SAP
- Provide business partners with thoughtful insights and influence senior leadership level decision making on core business decisions
- Manage the Limits of Authority matrix governing the controls over contract & change order, payroll, purchasing, and journal entry approval
- Support preparation of financial presentations & analyses for the leadership team
- Perform ad-hoc financial analyses (including “what-if” scenario analysis) as required to support business partners
Required Knowledge and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree preferably in Finance, Economics, or Accounting
- 2 - 3 years of financial reporting experience, should be pursuing CPA designation or equivalent
- CPA designation or equivalent (preferred)
- Progressive experience that indicates strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong ability to think creatively, challenge the status quo, deal with ambiguity
- Construction experience or related industry is preferred
- Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills
- Knowledge SAP Business Objects and Power BI preferred
- SAP and BPC experience an asset
