- Prepare specifications to establish scope, functional design, codes and standards, schedule and deliverables through preparation of an Aecon Technical Specification (ATS) as directed by the Project Manager.
- Prepare procedures and work instructions that control aspects of document control, fabrication and inspection.
- Provide input to risk assessment from an engineering perspective.
- Assist in proposal/estimate/RFQ preparation as required by the Proposal Manager.
- Review customer specifications and design documents.
- Identify engineering risk items, including FOAKs, performance guarantees, and other factors that may impact execution strategy, required oversight, or project cost.
- Select and assign Quality Assurance programs for procured items.
- Provide constructability review support.
- Participate in design challenge reviews and design progress reviews to ensure value engineering concepts and constructability are integrated with the engineering product and that contract requirements are met.
- Communicate and ensure incorporation of constructability elements in the design.
- Facilitate resolution of unusual or difficult issues (NCRs and CARs) related to engineering and fabrication.
- Review and approve, as required, dispositions for NCRs and Field Initiated Changes (FICs) that may impact constructability and cost, and monitor and review dispositions with design partners.
- Assist the Project Manager with Change Request disposition and approval.
- Review and/or approve work packages for design compliance.
- Provide oversight or review red-line drawings and coordinate final as-builts.
- Support the preparation and/or approval of final turnover documents, including final as-builts and close-out documents.
- Professional Engineer with a minimum of 5-10 years’ experience in manufacturing.
- Working knowledge of nuclear plant systems and components.
- Strong knowledge of power industry codes and standards (ASME, ASTM, CSA, etc.).
- Experience working directly with engineering partners and professional trades personnel.
- Knowledge of engineering and construction change management processes.
- Leadership and team skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Knowledge of ASME codes as applicable for pressure boundary work (i.e., ASME Section III, Class 1, Class 2, etc.).
- Knowledge of CSA N28 series standards relevant to the discipline role (i.e., N285 for mechanical and pressure boundary scopes).
- Strong knowledge of Nuclear N299 standards and relevant quality programs.
- Experience and knowledge in the procurement of nuclear-class commodities, components, and systems.
