What is the Opportunity?
Aecon Industrial provides high-performance construction services to a broad array of industrial clients across the country and offers single-source solutions for multi-trade industrial construction and fabrication projects.
As the Technical Service Manager, you will be accountable for the manufacturing specialist and drafting team’s performance that generates and maintains the Work packages (Travelers) and drawings to allow detailed execution of the pipe fabrication scope.
What You'll Do Here:
- Development and maintenance of Fabrication Work Packages (Travelers) in cooperation with fabrication, engineering, and quality based on the project and code requirements of the pipe fabrication scope.
- Directly interact with the drafting team to ensure quality and schedule are maintained.
- Review of work packages, including travelers, document lists and drawings prepared by others.
- Generate technical documents/procedures per the applicable code and project requirements to facilitate fabrication execution.
- Provides status report of project milestones and adjust fabrication/installation schedules and overall execution.
- Coordinates preparation and delivery of project deliverables, design specifications, as built drawings, required quality documentation, NCR turnover documents, etc.
- Accountable that activities are performed in accordance with written and approved policy, standards, programs, and applicable procedures.
- Provides and ensure effectiveness of the liaison function between the designer and construction teams in terms of information flow and problem resolution.
- Establishes and maintain interfaces with suppliers, fabrication teams, and construction teams.
- Maintains high standards related to final product quality.
- RFQ pricing and requisition of materials to meet Fabrication project needs with Project Manager and/or Facility Manager approval.
- Expediting materials with Purchasing or Clients to meet fabrication schedules
- Coordination of work with QC, Procurement & Pipe Shop
- Work well within a combined non-Union and Unionized work force.
- Support all requirements for Lean Manufacturing
- Follow current Nuclear Manual and procedures as they apply to the Pipe Fabrication Shop manufacturing specialist’s position.
- Complete all new internal training for nuclear procedures as they apply to the Pipe Fabrication Shop manufacturing specialist’s position.
- Accountability for the performance of the manufacturing and drafting team.
- Provide leadership to the Manufacturing specialists in their daily/weekly tasks.
- Provide leadership to the drafting team in their daily/weekly tasks.
- Uphold Aecon Safety requirements.
What You Bring to the Team:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a pipe fabrication environment with nuclear piping experience a requirement.
- Experience in the drafting tool AutoCAD is required.
- Experience or knowledge of the drafting tool Spool Fab is required.
- Experience and knowledge working with pipe codes ASME B31.1, B31.3, ASME Section III etc. is required.
- Experience and knowledge working with welding codes AWS D1.1 and CWB W59 is highly advantageous.
- Good organizational and time management skills
- Strong Problem-solving skills
- Good interpersonal written and verbal communications skills
- Working knowledge of SAP database an asset
- Proficient in MS Office Products
- Must be detail oriented.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing (5S, Kanban, Visual Factory, Kaizen, and Value Stream Mapping)
- Due to the nature of work conducted by Aecon, mandated nuclear export controls requirements must be met for employment.

The expected pay range for this role is $85,000 - $110,000 per year
Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions. Other considerations may include certifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role.
