Relevant du chargé de projet, le surintendant est responsable de veiller à ce que les projets soient réalisés dans les délais prévus, conformément aux contrats et aux estimations de coûts, et que tous les travaux soient effectués en toute sécurité et selon les normes de qualité et de finition acceptables. Le surintendant est également responsable de la gestion des opérations quotidiennes sur le chantier.

 

Responsabilités principales

 

• Assurer la planification et l'ordonnancement généraux afin de garantir la réalisation des projets dans les délais et le budget.

• Suivre l'avancement global des projets et prendre les mesures correctives nécessaires.

• Coordonner et superviser les trois fonctions principales : administration, planification et construction.

• Représenter l'entreprise auprès du client.

• Veiller à ce que le client soit informé de tous les travaux supplémentaires et réclamations, et que les sous-traitants soient informés des refacturations.

• S'assurer de la mise à jour régulière des contrats et de l'intégration des avenants.

• Mettre en œuvre et suivre les politiques de sécurité et d'environnement ainsi que les plans de contrôle qualité de l'entreprise.

• Garantir la conformité de toutes les fonctions et opérations sur le chantier avec la législation locale.

• Diriger et maintenir la discipline et la motivation du personnel du projet.

• Veiller au respect des politiques de l'entreprise et des procédures du projet.

• Garantir la conformité aux conventions collectives.

• Examiner et approuver les rapports de coûts du projet et s'assurer de l'exactitude et de l'actualité des prévisions de rentabilité.

• Participer au processus d'appel d'offres et effectuer toute autre tâche requise.

 

Exigences Connaissances et expérience

 

• Formation technique et au moins cinq ans d'expérience dans le secteur de la construction

• Expérience dans le secteur des travaux publics; dans le domaine électrique un atout.

• Maîtrise des outils informatiques, notamment la suite MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

• Excellentes aptitudes relationnelles et de communication

• Solides connaissances des techniques, pratiques et principes fondamentaux de la construction

• Expérience en gestion de contrats et de sous-traitance

• Capacité à établir et à maintenir des relations efficaces et à travailler en équipe

• Sens de l'organisation et gestion du temps

• Permis de conduire valide

• Mobilité requise pour se déplacer sur les chantiers

 

Position Overview

Reporting to the Project Manager the Superintendent is responsible to ensure that projects are completed on schedule in compliance with the contracts and the job cost estimates and all the work is completed safely to acceptable standards of quality and workmanship. The Superintendent is also responsible for the management of day-to-day operations in the yard.

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Responsible for the overall planning and scheduling to ensure that projects are constructed in a timely and cost-effective manner
  • Monitors the overall progress of the projects and takes corrective action where necessary
  • Coordinates and monitors the three main functions – Administration, Scheduling and Construction
  • Represents the Company with the owner
  • Ensure that the owner is being advised of all extra work and claims and that subcontractors are being advised of back charges
  • Ensure that contracts are kept current and being updated with change orders on a regular basis
  • Responsible for implementing and monitoring of the Company’s Safety and Environment Policies and QC Plans
  • Ensures that all functions and operations on the job are following local legislative requirements
  • Directs and maintains discipline and morale of the project staff
  • Ensures that Company policies and project procedures are being adhered to
  • Ensures compliance with union agreements, if applicable
  • Reviews and provides approval of project cost reports and ensures projected job profits are accurate and current
  • Assists in bid process and perform other duties and responsibilities as required

 

Required Knowledge and Experience

  • Technical school background and at least ten (10) years of construction experience
  • Experience in the Utility Contracting Industry; electrical experience is an asset 
  • Working computer proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Sound knowledge of construction techniques, practices, and fundamentals
  • Experience with contract and subcontract management
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships and work within a team environment
  • Strong organizational and time management
  • Maintain valid driver’s license
  • Ability to travel within site locations
