Aecon’s Materials Engineering group is seeking a Lab Supervisor to join the team in Caledon, Ontario. Reporting to the Lab Manager, this role will be responsible for overseeing the concrete and aggregates lab.
What You’ll Do Here:
- Manage and oversee the quality control lab and technicians.
- Collaborate and communicate with operations and senior management.
- Prepare materials reports for submission to clients including evaluating materials for use on construction projects including recommendations.
- Assisting with material testing, including but not limited to asphalt, aggregate, soils and concrete.
- Maintain quality control reports and quality systems compliance.
- Manage equipment inventory, maintenance and certification.
- Follow all company and regulatory safety policies and procedures.
- Manage Quality System Manual non-conformances and ensures appropriate follow-up.
- Manage proficiency testing, correlation programs and control testing including maintaining control charts.
What You’ll Bring to the Team:
- Post-secondary education in Civil Engineering Technology, Bachelor of Civil Engineering or related program is an asset.
- 5-10 years’ experience in advanced lab testing for asphalt, aggregates, soil and concrete are required.
- Experience leading and managing a team of lab technicians.
- Thorough understanding of MTO LS, ASTM, AASHTO and CSA procedures.
- Experience in the field testing of construction materials is an asset.
- Thorough understanding of municipal and MTO specifications.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Proven people and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate with a diverse group of individuals.
