Voltage Power Ltd, a subsidiary of Aecon Utilities, is a design build high voltage electrical contracting firm that provides the highest quality in products and services for electrical utilities, independent power producers and large power users.

 

As part of Voltage Power, you will be responsible for assisting our line crew in installing and maintaining overhead, underground, transmission, and distribution systems. This position is project based with awarded and ongoing projects located in Ontario, Manitoba, Alberta, and British Columbia. Ability to travel and work out of town considered an asset.

                                                               

What You Will Do Here

  • Assist with Install of major equipment such as circuit breakers, switches, transformers, and other electrical apparatus’s
  • Support with install and repair of conduit and cable trench in and around substations, powerhouses, and other installations
  • Operate specialized mobile equipment and vehicles
  • Loading and unloading construction materials, and moving them to work areas
  • Sorting and assembling material such as hardware, connectors, and /or assemblies
  • Receiving and inspecting materials on site
  • Pass tools to line crew by acting as a general helper on the ground
  • Support line crew with setting poles, installing structural steel, etc.
  • Assist with grounding installations
  • Aid with positioning reels of electric cable
  • Perform other related duties of a comparable level/type as assigned
  • Assist team with filling out Occupational Health & Safety administration and forms when needed

What You Will Bring to the Team  

  • High School diploma or equivalent an asset
  • Familiarity with power tools, machinery, and equipment used in the electrical trades.
  • Ability to interpret and apply blueprints, specifications, and codes an asset
  • Valid ON Driver’s License and reliable transportation
  • Ability to navigate construction job site terrain and meet physical demands such as standing for long periods of time, lifting and/or manipulation of objects or heavy loads of up to 50 + pounds
  • Knowledge of construction occupational health & safety principals and procedures
  • Ability to operate aerial workplace platform vehicles and construction vehicles
  • Comfort working in high-stress environment within extreme weather fluctuations
  • Ensure safe, effective use and maintenance of any vehicle, tools or general equipment used
  • Excellent interpersonal skills when relating to the public, contractors, subcontractors, or co-workers.
