Reporting to the Quality Control Manager, the Materials Testing Student will have the opportunity to take an active involvement on our Deerfoot Trail Improvements project located in Calgary, Alberta.

 

What You Will Do Here

  • Provide reports to the construction quality manager.
  • Assist with day-to-day tasks.
  • Demonstrates attention to detail and ability to review the quality documentation for completeness.
  • Provide data and input for month-end quality reporting requirements.
  • Maintain files and correspondence on quality testing and inspections.
  • Assist in the preparation, review, maintenance and approval of and supplier quality related documents.
  • Gather field information and assist in material inspection of permanent materials being delivered to the project site.
  • Liaise with clients, contractors and internal departments.
  • Other administrative duties as required.
  • Must be self-motivated and work well with minimum or no direct supervision.

 

What You Will Bring to The Team

  • Currently enrolled in a technical college diploma in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
  • Experience in the construction industry is a strong asset.
  • A valid driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract.
  • Experience in the lab and field testing of construction materials is an asset.
  • Excellent Microsoft Outlook, MS Word and Excel skills.
  • Proven people and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate with a diverse group of individuals.
  • Excellent communications skills.
  • Proven ability to utilize current technologies.
  • Strong problem solving skills.
  • Adaptable to flexible work schedules (day and night shifts) when required to meet deadlines.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-access drug and alcohol test.
  • ACI Concrete certification is preferred.
