- Developing, administering, and maintaining the welding program at a corporate level.
- Supporting new and in-process project activities.
- Performing R&D, proposal work, and supporting business development and proposal initiatives.
- Contribute technical input and development efforts to create and refine production welding activities.
- Investigate new welding technologies.
- Develop new welding equipment for production welding, specifically robotic systems.
- Act as a technical liaison between vendors and the procurement department.
- Draft R&D reports to summarize welding development work.
- Produce procurement technical specifications for purchasing materials and welding equipment.
- Help produce project bids and identify potential risks.
- Assist business development initiatives.
- Support fabrication and shop production activities.
- Generate all required project status reports for internal management and customers.
- Coordinate with the COE team to support the project team in budget and forecast management during execution to accurately reflect project status.
- Assist in developing, troubleshooting, designing, testing, and training with various types of welding processes and equipment.
- Assist with the Aecon Nuclear Welding School activities and classes, both theoretical and hands-on.
- College and/or university degree in Engineering or a related field, specifically Mechanical, Materials, Mechatronics, Welding & Robotics, or similar technical programs.
- Advanced knowledge and experience with welding is mandatory.
- Advanced knowledge of robotics and automation equipment is mandatory.
- Previous education and experience with FANUC robotics is mandatory.
- Previous employment by an automation integrator is an asset.
- Minimum 4 years of industry welding, manufacturing, or materials science experience.
- Knowledge of ASME, CWB, and/or AWS welding codes is an asset.
- Strong background and experience programming software systems for robots, PLCs, automated and/or mechanized automation and welding systems.
- Exposure to heavy welding machinery and tooling design and development is an asset.
- Ability to clearly sketch and communicate manufacturing concepts.
- Past experience designing and drawing components in a mainstream mechanical CAD package (i.e., SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, etc.) is an asset.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing plant design and process engineering principles (cycle times, takt times, etc.).
- Strong understanding of value-added and non-value-added operations within a manufacturing facility.
- Applied knowledge of Project Management and Project Controls principles is an asset.
- Intermediate to expert proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
- Organizational skills to handle multiple tasks within a high-pressure work site environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
- Ability to work effectively with all levels of management and employees.
- Willingness for continuous learning and advancement of technical knowledge.
- Detail-oriented.
- Must possess a valid G driver's license and have access to a vehicle.
- Takes pride in work, strives for excellence, and instills this mindset in others.

- Hands-on experience with manufacturing tools and welding is an asset.
- Familiarity with welding principles is preferred, including the basics of arc welding and welding types.
- Familiarity with robotics or comparable semi-automated and mechanized machinery is an asset.

- Strong written and oral communication skills.

Salary range: $90,000 - $115,000
Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions. Other considerations may include certifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role.
