Coating Inspector

Position Overview

140+ years in the industry means Aecon’s roots in construction and infrastructure development run deep. We have earned the position of the preferred contractor to numerous public entities and Public-Private Partnerships (P3s) across Canada and abroad. Our Construction segment includes all aspects of the construction of both public and private infrastructure in the Civil, Urban Transportation, Nuclear, Utility, and Conventional Industrial sectors. We operate primarily in Canada but selectively pursue International initiatives.

 

The Coatings Inspector is responsible for the performance of all quality functions and duties as related to the painting and coating within Aecon Fabrication.

 

  • Perform inspection on assemblies and structural fabrications in accordance with client specifications/requirements.
  • Such inspections shall include but not be limited to:
    • Paint and Coating inspections
    • Surface Preparation inspections
    • Knowledgeable in the use of coatings inspection tools i.e. DFT Meters, Holiday detectors
  • Follow and maintain Inspection and Test Plans or Travelers
  • Complete all associated documentation; Quality Control reports, sign-off on drawings
  • Perform source inspections at subcontractor facilities
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of a cost of quality tracking system
  • Tracking of noncomformance reports and corrective/preventative action requests

 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Graduate secondary school education in a QA/QC related discipline at the University or College level or a minimum 1 year work experience in QA/QC role.
  • NACE Level 1 minimum, NACE Level 2 preferred
  • Good communication and organizational skills
  • Computer literate in MS Office
  • Experience with SSPC-PA2 would also be an asset.
