What You'll Do Here:

  • Overall responsibility for the closing and submission of bids and/or proposals (e.g. commercial terms, execution strategy, schedule, etc.)
  • Assigns resources (e.g. estimators and support personnel) to produce the required bid/proposal deliverables in an orderly manner
  • Responsible for recommendations to management on how best to proceed with bid/proposal request
  • In conjunction with management, develops strategic and competitive approaches
  • Engagement of legal team to confirm that the contract accurately reflects the Aecon bid/proposal. Identify risks and ensure necessary precautions are implemented to manage exposure
  • Leads all bid/proposal meetings
  • Engagement of any Third Parties necessary to support Aecon’s bid/proposal
  • Review and assess estimates and resource requirements developed by discipline estimators
  • Manage and coordinate input from partners
  • Oversee document management throughout the bid process
  • Collect and assemble technical, commercial and required marketing documents
  • Coordinate with Aecon departments to develop critical proposal material (where applicable)
  • Summarize and present as necessary the proposal and estimate details to senior management to obtain required approvals (e.g. CRC, PRC, Board of Directors, etc.)
  • Develop formal presentations of proposals, upon being short-listed and called in to present directly to the client
  • Participate in P3 Industry forums, conferences, and functions where appropriate
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients, consultants, partners and subcontractors
  • Train, mentor, and develop the bid/proposal team
  • Travel as required to work with JV partners to develop and close bid/proposal submissions
  • Present all relevant documentation required for Project Handover and participate in handover process
  • Communicate immanent award to other Aecon divisions that assisted with the proposal or were carried in the estimate

 

What you’ll bring to the team:

  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience in the construction industry
  • University Degree, College Diploma or Trades Background– or equivalent experience
  • P.Eng or C.E.T designation considered an asset
  • Thorough understanding of construction methodologies and practices
  • Strong estimating background with capital projects
  • Experience managing large Fixed Price projects
  • Exceptional organizational and leadership skills
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Good understanding of collective agreements and experience working with trade unions
  • Strong computer skills – MS Excel / Word / Project, P6 and estimating software.
  • Ensure you have or are able to obtain required security clearances

 

Salary range - $110,000 - $150,000 per annum

Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions. Other considersations may include certifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role.
