Aecon is currently seeking a Survey Assistant to join the Aecon Construction Ontario East Ltd., ACOE, Survey Team, working out of the Ottawa area. Under the general supervision and direction of a Surveyor, the Survey Assistant will support the daily activities of the surveying group working on our various projects.


What You'll Do Here

  • Maintain and verify provided control network.
  • Work with the Survey Team to develop survey plans/job lay out methods and procedures for conducting construction surveys.
  • Collect, manage, and output data using conventional survey methods and computer-aided design.
  • Record measurements and other information obtained during survey activities.
  • Work with the Engineering team to develop and analyze as-builts drawings.
  • Assist to complete lay out calculations.
  • Work with the Surveyor to establish and maintain site survey control.
  • Maintain and calibrate survey equipment.
  • Assist with setting-up GPS and machine control systems on-site.


What You Bring to the Team

  • Post-secondary education in Surveying, Geomatics or Civil Engineering.
  • Knowledge of survey practices and standards.
  • Any experience in Construction surveying industry would be considered an asset.
  • Strong computer skills and proficient in the use of office, data, surveying, and engineering-based software.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of engineering design and survey methods.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Available to travel to various projects.
  • Driver’s license (Class G). Driver’s Abstract required.
