What is the Opportunity?     

 

Aecon holds a Master Construction Contract with Canadian Nuclear Laboratories(CNL) for completing projects at their Chalk River, Ontario site. This is a dynamic growth opportunity in a fast-paced environment working with an exciting client and site that is rich in history, as it was the location of the first nuclear reactor in Canada.

 

The Electrical Quality Control Inspector will report directly to the Quality Manager and will be responsible for the performance of all quality functions and duties as related to the electrical construction and equipment within their specific project.

 

 

What You’ll Do Here:

  • Supervise and support the Quality Control Team assigned to the Chalk River Laboratories location.
  • Interface with the engineering, procurement, and construction groups on matters related to the planning of QC activities required by the design and applicable codes and standards including preparation of Inspection and Test Plans, Construction Work Packages, and NCR management.
  • Responsible for implementing and overseeing quality processes to ensure all specifications and standards are met.
  • Establish a culture of continuous improvement by identifying new practices that will contribute to the overall effectiveness of the project.
  • Assist the project construction team with the understanding of codes and standards and regulatory requirements required by the design.
  • Accountable for review and approval of Lifetime Records (LTRs).
  • Ensure all activities outlined in the Inspection and Test Plan are properly executed, inspected, verified, witnessed (as required), and signed off upon acceptance.
  • Perform inspections and examinations on high- and low-voltage electrical  materials, installations, components, and equipment in compliance with applicable construction codes and customer specifications.
  • Complete all required documentation to record inspection status and results.
  • Attend and document ongoing construction and testing activities as needed.
  • Identify and report unsatisfactory work activities or items.
  • Initiate non-conformance reports and/or corrective actions when necessary.
  • Conduct material receipt inspections and verify compliance with Purchase Orders, codes, and standards.
  • Identify and segregate nonconforming items.
  • Interpret and apply technical drawings accurately.
  • Verify calibration of equipment used during inspection and testing activities.
  • Assist in preparing History Files or History Dockets.
  • Promote and maintain safety awareness, ensuring adherence to all safety rules and requirements.

 

What You Bring to the Team:

  • Licensed Journeyman Electrician with a valid 309A license; or
  • Graduate of an accredited QA/QC program with at least 2 years of field experience in an Electrical QC role.
  • Self-directed, collaborative, and motivated team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.
  • Solid understanding of the latest Ontario Electrical Safety Code.
  • Experience with structural codes such as CSA W59 and CWB (an asset).
  • Exceptional attention to detail with strong coordination and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively—both verbally and in writing—with internal teams, alliance partners, subcontractors, and regulatory authorities.

The expected pay range for this postion is $55 - $65/hr.

Individual pay is determined based on several factors, including work location, education, experience, unique skills and job conditions. Other considerations may include certifications, specialized training, and the complexity or scope of the role.
