The Field Engineering Manager will support various projects by reviewing current practices and course-correcting to best utilize resources and support efficient performance of work in the field. The successful candidate will review staffing levels and execution plans to determine best practices for all teams and ensure personnel leadership supports continuous improvement of staff members. This role will develop site drawings needed to support projects, revise processes and procedures developed by project planners to maximize efficiency for all project coordinator functions, including Construction Work Package generation and execution, and develop new processes for doing business that allow for efficient field changes and support site Design (Field) Engineers. The Field Engineering Manager will establish an overall staffing plan for engineering needs that encompasses all nuclear projects and help facilitate moving the right people among projects to best develop key talent and ensure success across the U.S. nuclear portfolio.

What You'll Do Here:

  • Develop site drawings needed, including the specifics of writing and executing Construction Work Packages, procuring and tracking nuclear materials, reading and reporting on schedules, progressing work, issuing and tracking subcontracts, etc.
  • Revise and re-write procedures developed by project planners as necessary to maximize efficiency and address any current gaps in the program.
  • Work with Human Resources to create an overall time-phased staffing plan for all U.S. nuclear projects for engineering needs to address ramp-up and ramp-down periods across all projects and ensure mentorship, career progression, and personnel development are considered.
  • Work with the quality team to simplify procedures and streamline processes to meet minimum code requirements while maximizing field efficiency of operation.
  • Manage relationships with key stakeholders on all U.S. nuclear projects, acting as a home office support system for site field engineering managers.
  • Manage relationships with joint venture partner engineering firms and customers in support of site field engineering managers.
  • Develop and review specialty welding and plant modification plans to support field activities.
  • Review non-labor resource needs to support specialty welding and plant modifications.
  • Support field construction management with the procurement process of specialty tooling as required.

 

What You Bring to the Team:

  • Minimum 15 years’ experience in Mechanical Engineering Design.
  • Familiarity with nuclear construction work packages.
  • Familiarity with nuclear safety culture and principles.
  • Familiarity with nuclear welding and QA programs.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to map processes and write procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft tools including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with automated welding and specialty machining equipment.
