Our nuclear sector plays an important role in extending the life of existing nuclear stations and executing the next generation of nuclear new builds leveraging a similar fleet execution strategy. From our work delivering the two largest refurbishment projects (Savannah River nuclear station and North Anna Power Station) in North America to deploying the first grid-scale SMR in the western world. We continue moving forward with a strategic focus on decarbonizing energy systems in support of a net zero future. 

 

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Subcontractors Manager to join our construction company. The Commercial Subcontracts Manager has responsibility for all subcontractor documents necessary from opportunity identification to project closeout by providing contractual advice from the pre-bid, estimating, bid-submission, negotiation, contracting, ongoing project reporting including change and delay management, negotiating change orders, initial dispute resolution coordination, litigation support, to ultimately project closeout reporting.

What You'll Do Here:

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, ensuring alignment with project goals and commercial regulations
  • Oversee the selection, negotiation, and management of subcontractors for commercial projects
  • Ensure compliance with various regulatory conditions
  • Coordinate with project managers and other stakeholders to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery
  • Monitor subcontractor performance and implement corrective actions as needed
  • Prepare and review subcontractor agreements, ensuring all terms and conditions are met
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor subcontractor work and ensure adherence to safety and quality standards
  • Manage subcontractor invoicing and payment processes
  • Provide regular reports on subcontractor performance and project status to senior management
  • Exercise proper judgment to engage with Aecon’s legal advisors to seek advice at the appropriate times

 

What You Bring To The Team:

  • 5-8 years’ experience supporting an industrial, engineering, nuclear or construction business
  • A Bachelor’s degree
  • In-depth knowledge of commercial construction contracting terms and regulations
  • Proven experience in managing large-scale construction projects
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Familiarity with SAP and other project management software and tools
  • Previous experience working directly with multiple legal experts
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, etc.)
