What is the Opportunity?
Aecon is a nuclear constructor leader in extending the life of existing nuclear stations and executing the next generation of nuclear new builds in Canada and the U.S. We provide a full spectrum of Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) nuclear services for refurbishment, maintenance, new build, decommissioning, modularization, and fabrication scopes, safely delivering through exacting standards and proven results.
Reporting directly to the Associate Director, Commercial Operations, the Solutions Architect, Commercial Operations is responsible for leading the documentation, design, and communication of end‑to‑end business processes and procedures across Aecon US Nuclear. This role will partner closely with business leaders, subject matter experts, and technology teams to translate how work should be done into clear, standardized process maps, procedures, and job aids that can be consistently adopted across the organization. The ideal candidate combines strong process architecture skills with the ability to create practical, field‑ready documentation that supports operational excellence, technology adoption, and scalable growth.
Citizenship Requirement:
This position requires access to nuclear facilities and information governed by U.S. federal regulations. As a result, applicants must be U.S. citizens to meet eligibility and security clearance requirements.
What You’ll Do Here:
- Lead discovery and mapping of current‑state and future‑state business processes across Aecon US Nuclear operations
- Develop clear, standardized process maps (L1–L4), decision trees, swimlane diagrams, and operating models
- Define roles, responsibilities, handoffs, controls, and escalation points within each process
- Ensure processes align with business strategy, compliance requirements, and system capabilities
- Author and maintain procedures, SOPs, work instructions, and job aids that translate process design into day‑to‑day execution
- Create user‑friendly materials (playbooks, quick reference guides, checklists, flowcharts) tailored to different audiences (field, operations, leadership)
- Ensure documentation supports both manual and system‑enabled workflows
- Establish documentation standards, templates, and version control
- Partner with IT, system owners, and vendors to ensure business processes are properly supported by technology solutions
- Translate process requirements into functional requirements and user stories
- Validate that system configurations and workflows align with defined processes
- Support testing, training, and rollout activities related to process and system changes
- Design and lead enterprise level improvement programs that drive cross-functional change in a structured, collaborative manner
- Collaborate with program and change managers to support adoption of new processes and tools
- Participate in training development and delivery as needed
- Gather feedback from users to continuously improve process clarity and usability
- Serve as a bridge between strategy, design, and execution
What you Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations, or Liberal Arts
- 5–8+ years of experience in solution architecture, business process design, or operational transformation
- Demonstrated experience mapping complex, cross‑functional processes end‑to‑end
- Strong documentation and communication skills, with the ability to make complex processes easy to understand
- Experience working with both business stakeholders and technical teams
- Experience in construction, engineering, EPC, or project‑based environments
- Familiarity with commercial processes across business functions
- Experience supporting ERP systems, estimating platforms, CLM, and AI technologies
- Knowledge of Lean, BPM, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies
