Position Overview
As a Graduate Civil Engineer at Aecon International, you’ll work alongside experienced professionals to streamline project costs and mitigate risks, all while maintaining high standards of quality and adhering to building regulations.
What You Will Do Here
- Receives on-the-job assignments and tasks assigned include: preparation of simple plans, designs, calculations, costs and bills of material in accordance with established codes, standards, drawings or other specifications. May carry out routine technical surveys or inspections and prepare reports.
- Supports the monitoring of project costs, materials supply quantities and scheduling for specific project(s).
- Assists in the interpretation of plans, detail sheets, and specifications for contractors or craft supervision, using a variety of standard engineering methods and techniques.
- Manage project specific materials and equipment purchases including: sourcing, maintaining vendor relations, ordering and tracking deliveries, and receiving and processing invoices.
- Assist with the bids and proposals for new work.
- Act as a project liaison between the client, subcontractors, and project team.
- Generate requests for design changes, clarifications, and technical/engineering issues by preparing RFI’s and NCR’s with the clients/subcontractors using existing systems.
- Participate in setting up the cost code structure of the project (i.e. accounting codes).
- Participate in setting up project information and cost codes.
- Participate in coordinating the work between estimating and site by:
- Defining/reviewing the site requirements/expectations from estimating.
- Reviewing the estimate structure/breakdown with the project estimating lead before uploading the estimate.
- Providing the necessary information that estimating needs to complete their estimates.
- Review drawings for construction including isometrics and vendor drawings prior to construction.
- In conjunction with the construction supervision, complete construction walks downs of completed field work packages.
What You Bring to the Team
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Structural, Electrical, Mechanical, etc.

Degree with 2:2 or higher is preferred
- Understanding of Engineered tools/equipment, automated systems, remote tooling systems
- Knowledge in software related to construction industry as required (e.g. Primavera Scheduling software, AutoCAD, SAP etc.)
- Hold of full Driver’s License is preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills in communicating with a large team
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Flexibility to work in both field and office.
