What is the Opportunity?
Aecon’s Civil East sector is a cornerstone of our construction and infrastructure operations, delivering innovative solutions to some of the most complex and impactful projects globally. Renowned for its expertise in heavy civil construction, our Civil East sector specializes in building essential infrastructure that powers economies and enhances communities.
Our portfolio features cutting-edge work on bridges, highways, tunnels, and airports to name a few! In the Caribbean region, we are leveraging our expertise and collaborative approach to deliver world-class infrastructure projects tailored to meet the unique needs of the island communities.
As a Graduate Project Engineer at Aecon International, you’ll work alongside experienced professionals to streamline project costs and mitigate risks, all while maintaining high standards of quality and adhering to building regulations.
What You'll Do Here:
- Assists in the efficient scheduling of various work crews as required.
- Performs site previews and inspections as required in preparation for locate requests.
- Assists in inventory management, control and related systems development.
- Coordinates and procures specialty materials and tooling.
- Assists in small specialty tool inventory management, control, maintenance, and certification.
- Reviews and summarizes weekly equipment utilization reports and corrects misallocations.
- Tracks and maintains area-specific worker training matrix.
- Assists in the acquisition of required safety and experience documentation from subcontractors.
- Develops an understanding of budgets, cost reports and revenue forecasts at the project level.
- Performs time entry, travel booking, and weekly scheduling of field personnel.
- Ensures and tracks that the quality and frequency of safety inspection reporting is compliant with the Aecon Health & Safety and Environmental Manual.
- Reviews, tracks, and summarizes quality assurance non-conformances and ensures appropriate training and follow-up.
- Ensures the safe, organized status of materials and equipment.
- Receives, validates, off-loads, handles, and processes related paperwork from vendors.
- Queries, analyzes, and reports on data from various systems to assist in operational efficiency.
- Generates reports, as necessary, as required by major customers.
- Facilitates deliveries of rush materials and tooling to crews as required.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.
What You Bring to the Team:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Experience in the construction industry is an asset.
- Strong computer skills including MS Excel, MS Word, and SharePoint.
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
- Self-motivated with strong organizational skills.
- Adaptable to a flexible work schedule when required to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
