Communications Coordinator (Contract)

Position Overview

Aecon Nuclear provides a full spectrum of Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) services, in addition to maintenance and manufacturing services tailored to meet the demanding requirements of the nuclear power industry.

 

The joint venture between SNC-Lavalin and Aecon has been awarded a contract with Ontario Power Generation (OPG) to carry out the Darlington Retube and Feeder Replacement (RFR) project. The project involves refurbishment of all four reactors at the Darlington Generating Station and consists of two phases – a Definition Phase and an Execution Phase. The Definition Phase includes the construction of a full-scale reactor mock-up to simulate key elements of the refurbishment work, and the development, procurement and testing of specialized tooling required for the project. The Execution Phase involves refurbishment of the reactor cores using the tools and methods that were developed and tested during the Definition Phase.

 

The CanAtom Communications Coordinator reports to the Director, Business Services and is responsible for effective project communications throughout CanAtom projects. The Communications Coordinator will liaise with internal and external stakeholders to increase our effectiveness in project communications and sustain the benefits that are implemented.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for CanAtom communications internally
  • Interface with external stakeholders where communications to corporate teams are required
  • Liaise with corporate public affairs teams when required
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a CanAtom portal (i.e. website) as a central point of information
  • Interface with corporate IT/IS teams where applicable to ensure the most effective technology is utilized
  • Develop and maintain a CanAtom performance recognition program in consultation with affected stakeholders
  • Prepare, edit, and maintain CanAtom communications articles (Newsletter, etc)
  • Assist the Director, Business Management & Support as required
  • Interface personally with the project teams at all levels to identify what the business/project needs are in the continuous improvement of our project communications
  • Interface with OPG Communications teams to ensure alignment

 

Required Knowledge and Experience

  • Diploma or relevant experience
  • 5+ years of experience in construction support/administration
  • Working knowledge of construction methods, building systems and terminology
  • Excellent client service/management, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong computer skills using MS Office Products (Word/Excel/Visio/PowerPoint)
  • An analytical mind with problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
  • A team player with leadership skills
  • Must be able to deal with sensitive issues in a confidential manner
  • Problem solving, planning and organizational skills, ability to prioritize tasks, work to timelines
