About Us

As part of an alliance agreement Aecon Nuclear has been awarded a contract with Ontario Power Generation to support the Darlington New Nuclear Project (DNNP). Beginning in 2023 Aecon will support the validation phase design, procurement, early site preparation and site mobilization scope for the Construction of the Unit 1 Small Modular Reactor at the Darlington site.


Reporting to the responsible Survey Civil Superintendent, this role will provide survey reporting and coordination within the DNNP BOP CCW Tunneling construction scope which includes shoring piling and excavation for two onshore shafts and their monitoring as well as a CCW tunnel scope. During the validation and execution phases, they will be responsible for the accurate calculation and reporting of survey work and quantities in compliance with the contract and the job cost estimate.

 

What is the Opportunity?

  • Prepare layout calculations and models from IFC drawings for use in survey instruments and project survey reporting and layout.
  • Daily processing of survey data files to update surface and as-built models, updating progress and quality reports from models.
  • Draft Initial planning and engineering sketches of existing site conditions and proposed CCW structures and surfaces for use by the site planning team.
  • Distribute timely reports on project’s progress of excavation, TBM advancement, under break/over break using project document control procedures.
  • Create and update quality reports at specified intervals for shaft and tunnel monitoring requirements.
  • Attends planning meetings and anticipates the calculation and reporting requirements for upcoming activities.
  • Reviews completed layout, as built and progress reports for accuracy and quality as per the project survey policies.
  • Ensures adherence to project data management and drafting policies for all assigned work.
  • General administration and reporting of survey department activities.
  • Interface with client representatives, design engineers, consultants, other contractors, etc.
  • Perform regular field tours to check survey progress and meet with project site personnel.
  • Participate in Job Hazard assessments and site safety inspections.
  • Participate in company-wide initiatives aimed at overall continuous improvement.

 

What You Bring to the Team:

  • Minimum of 7 years Civil Survey design and as-built drafting experience.
  • Expertise in use of AutoCAD Civil 3D for creating layout and as-built models including grading objects, corridor models, shoring, and site improvements/temporary works.
  • Experienced in the creation of Civil 3D earthworks as built and progress reporting formats such as cut/fill maps, cross sections, and plan profiles.
  • Competent In Microsoft office applications and basic computing network configurations
  • Experienced reporting TBM advancement and alignment is an asset.
  • 2 years nuclear or heavy civil construction experience is an asset.
  • Must understand how to support a positive Nuclear Safety Culture.
  • Ability to read and understand construction plans, sections and profiles, and specifications.
  • Must have a full appreciation of the importance of Quality Assurance Programs and their significance to the nuclear industry.
