What is the Opportunity?
The Construction Director reports directly to the Project Director. This position will direct and be accountable for all pre-execution planning activities to ensure all necessary construction packages are ready and available for use. The Construction Director will be responsible for all site execution matters, including direct-hire and subcontracted labour supervision, safe and timely performance of the work, and ensuring quality standards are upheld.
Please note: the successful candidate for this position must be willing and able to work on-site in the state of Texas.
What You'll Do Here:
- Prepare and staff a construction team made up of experienced and capable supervisory personnel.
- Liaise with engineering staff to ensure constructability of designs.
- Develop hiring plan and ensure labour relations issues are proactively managed.
- Responsible for all site execution matters, including the timely performance of the work.
- Accountable for all site safety and human performance issues, and for collaborating with the project Safety Manager.
- Maintain a positive relationship with client construction counterpart.
- Accountable for ensuring all project execution resources have received the required training.
- Identifies succession plans for key individuals and implements necessary steps to train these individuals.
- Ensure work is performed within quality system requirements.
- Involvement in developing and ensuring compliance with staff training roster.
- Ensure verification of Supervisor qualifications.
- Ensure a strong safety culture is reinforced continuously.
- Other duties as assigned.
What You Bring to the Team:
- At least 15+ years of self-performing construction management experience.
- Requires proficient trades union relations management skills, and a solid understanding of union agreements applicable to the work.
- Must have the ability to handle all matters in a confidential and professional manner.
- Excellent organizational, communication and customer relationship skills.
- Extensive knowledge of self-perform trades work, estimating and employee relations required.
- Flexibility to work in various work locations in both in-field and in-office.
- Travel as necessary.
